There comes a time for a sacred pause…
We loved seeing the light flood into people’s faces.
It was a remarkable phenomenon. This radical transformation most often occurred within the 8 days of a retreat. For some, it took more time for the experience to settle and bloom. But it would eventually come—with intention, practice, humility, curiosity, community support, and complimentary work. It was always nurtured by the integration process.
Suddenly, we could see their original, beautiful soul shining through—without the heavy layers of trauma, pain, shame, and old stories.
We fell in love with people’s souls, over and over.
They are always divine.
Watching an individual come through the medicine process was profound, magical, and compelling. It was a mystery unfolding right before our eyes, as each person is an utterly unique treasure trove of gifts, magic, humor, love, wisdom, and creativity.
Beholding this light bloom was the greatest privilege of our lives, along with being parents, daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, and citizens of the eco-system. It's what drew us to dedicate our whole lives to it.
Then, everything stopped.
The present moment brought immeasurable collective heartbreak, grief, loss, pain, and uncertainty. And we simply had to make space for it all, for these other experiences are just as sacred and worthy of attention as the light and the beauty.
Our reverence for life and our passion for this traditional healing guided us to a sacred pause.
Sometimes commitment to sacred medicine means not serving the medicine.
We closed our center in Costa Rica to make space for deep listening, reflection, inquiry, and study.
The sacred pause ultimately led us to a remote forest in Gabon for healing, deepening traditional education, ceremony, and connection with the original wisdom keepers of the Holy Root medicine.
We have returned, with much to express, now that we can speak publicly. We will be sharing our voices more, in time.
We know that every experience, however painful, contains an opportunity for growth.
The wound is the place where the medicine can enter—with our full participation.
