The spiritual is not separate from the political, just as spirit is not separate from matter. This is indigenous knowledge…

The sacred IB0GA medicine helped the Bwiti people with spiritual protection in the time of colonial persecution. It can be a powerful ally for healing the spirit of oppression in the world, empowering the spiritual warrior within, and activating our creativity so we can see “soul-utions” and create a better world.

Is your heart on fire right now?

At this moment in human history, as unjust violence wages upon children, innocent people, and the earth, our ancestors are being awakened…

The sacred IB0GA medicine teaches us not to suppress anger—or any emotion. Anger itself is not “bad.” Anger can light up the house of humanity—or burn it down. It is a sacred messenger from the soul. It is up to us to respond with respect.

So how do we respond to it in a conscious vs. an unconscious way?

The greatest temple in Bwiti is Nature. We go deep into the forests to commune with the spirits for guidance. The soul’s call to action awaits.

The body holds all of our memories—and all the memories of our ancestors as well.

These memories can hold us like a suit of armor grown too tight.

They can be the wings that spread.

They can be the lead that turns to gold…

We do not have to be slaves to these memories.

❤️ Freedom lies within our ability to express these memories fully—with our whole body. DANCE, SING, PRAY, WRITE, TALK, & CREATE RITUAL.

⭐️ We are haunted by these memories—until we give them a VOICE.

🌺 BWITI & IB0GA are among the most powerful means on Mother Earth to help to heal generational trauma—and bring forth all the generational strengths as well.

The truth can hurt, but it sets us SO free.

Facing truth is UNDERRATED...

Truth has a sharp blade, and yet the sweetest nectar.

Facing truth is a key principle of magic magic with our lives…

The truth provides the clear and solid ground on which we can create and manifest our destiny.

If you feel like you’ve been “chasing your tail” in life or not being able to manifest, it may be time to commune with the most powerful of all truth medicines, IB0GA.

It is heartbreaking to us and our indigenous relations when Westerners presume to serve IB0GA or claim to represent Bwiti on any level without being ordained as a Nganga (healer). That said, there are different levels of Ngangas, & they must be at the appropriate level of being able to hold ceremony.

It is also heartbreaking to see individuals making claims of being Ngangas or "shamans" without implicit permission from qualified Bwiti lineage holders and exaggerating their personal experience with the medicine or the tradition. It takes multiple years of personal integrated relationship with the medicine and the tradition to be in a position to serve.

Westerners often love to have the certification to do whatever they want in a weekend workshop. Even a year or two in the tradition is not a lot at all, much less in a 2 month training which would be grossly inadequate.

Some people feel entitled to serve the IB0GA medicine after Bwiti initiation. It should be said that Bwiti initiation is just a beginning. It is NOT a license to serve medicine, hold Bwiti ceremony, or otherwise represent the Bwiti. This is dangerous for participants and facilitators, when they are attempting to serve without the proper lineage spiritual protections in place.

We feel it is unacceptable to offer white-washed Bwiti. This is offensive to the ancestral spirits.

SoulCentro founder has been ordained as both a Nganga & a Nima through his well-respected teacher, Binana, which allows him to give Bwiti initiations. He is a member of the Maghanga ma Nzambe council of Bwiti lineage holders which is committed to protecting the integrity of the tradition against cultural appropriation and cultural theft.

We are here to support others to become healers, but in the right way--not the rushed way.

Side note: IB0GAINE providers should still practice collaborative reciprocity with Bwiti communities & ethical sourcing!🌿

The Bwiti is the study of life. Through the wisdom passed down in the oral tradition, it is said these are the two most important things to know in life:

#1 KNOW YOURSELF

In the Western world, we spend our whole lives studying everything outside of ourselves—from day 1. We are entrained to learn every dead president, but not what makes us tick. In Bwiti, the most important element in nature to study is our own mind, body, and soul. Knowing ourselves is the foundation of knowing how to navigate LIFE.

We are conditioned to bow to authority and “trust the expert.” This is internal colonization. In truth, a good expert is there to respect and support your inner knowing. You are the greatest student & teacher of you—if you listen.

The problem is that we have been taught to listen to everyone and everything outside of ourself first. The more we listen to the soul—the better we know ourself.

The best ways to know ourself is to spend intentional time with ourself and pay close attention to ourself, just as in any good relationship. Practicing kindness & compassion in the relationship has profound effects.

#2 KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

Knowing ourselves allows us to know exactly what we want. Knowing what we want allows us to move through the jungle of life with a clear direction, and this focus is a powerful form of spiritual protection. Whatever challenge may come in our path, we remain true to our soul’s direction.

In the West, people are entrained to be self-sacrificing. This is another form of internal colonization. If we are self-sacrificing, we slowly become unwell mentally, physically, and spiritually. By knowing & pursuing what we want, we live healthier, happier, more fulfilled lives. Only then can we help others to do the same. We can then give from a deeper place. We cannot feed the starving when we ourselves are weak from starvation.

IB0GA & BWITI are among the most powerful ways to know ourself & know what we want more deeply.

In the indigenous approach to medicine, we come as humble students and devotees, saying “thank you, medicine” for all that is shown and given. We practice acceptance, curiosity, and patience for the unique process and pace of the medicine. We make offerings of precious things, especially our own attention.

In the colonial approach, people try to tell the medicine what to do, coming as a customer or a consumer instead of a student or devotee. For example, shackling the medicine with heavy and rigid expectations for how it will function and when it brings its gifts. With this approach, quick fix thinking is typical.

People may ask, “will this medicine work for me?” In fact, the medicine only works if WE work. It’s a tango dance filled with love, knowing who is the lead dance partner.

In truth, the end of the ceremony is the beginning of a 50 year integration plan.

At SoulCentro, we are dedicated to bowing to the spirit of Iboga. We respect the wisdom of the Bwiti and the presence of the ancestors. We are not here to force our way forward, but rather to listen deeply to the spirit of what wants to exist through us in this space. Every day, we ask, “Iboga, what do YOU want?”
