🇬🇧 This woman! , a beloved friend and source of inspiration for me, published this year her wonderful book “Finding La Negrita”, a historical fiction novel that describes life in La Gotera (Cartago/Cost Rica) back in the 1600’s and reveals with heartfelt detail the dynamics of slavery during a time of cruelty and blindness from those who simply believed that they could own people, those with tremendous power for years, decades, centuries.
This book is also about kind love and strong companionship. It is remembrance of home, of a loved land far away beyond the sea, of África that will never be seen or touched again.
Costa Rica should read this book! Teach it to children, talk about it over and over. I know now many things that touched my soul that I didn’t know before. Information that was never taught to me or to anyone in school, how can this be?
Now I know more, a little more, but I know, thanks to Natasha and her courageous heart ♥️
🇨🇷 ¡Esta mujer! , una querida amiga y fuente de inspiración para mí, publicó este año su maravilloso libro "Finding La Negrita", una novela de ficción histórica que describe la vida en La Gotera (Cartago, Costa Rica) en los años 1600 y revela con detalles brutales la dinámica de la esclavitud durante una época de crueldad y ceguera por parte de aquellos que simplemente creían que podían ser dueños de personas, aquellos con tremendo poder durante años, décadas, siglos.
Este libro también trata sobre el amor y la comunidad. Es un recuerdo constante de la tierra amada y lejana más allá del mar, de África que no volverá nunca más.
¡Costa Rica debería leer este libro! Enseñarlo a los niños, hablar de él una y otra vez. Ahora sé muchas cosas que tocaron mi alma y que antes no sabía. Información que nunca me enseñaron a mí ni a nadie en la escuela, ¿cómo puede ser esto?
Ahora sé más, un poco más, pero sé, gracias a Natasha y a su corazón valiente ♥️
