At the sanctuary we love sharing small pieces of Costa Rica with the people who come through our doors. Sometimes that looks like waterfalls, cacao, or the sound of the jungle at night. Other times it looks like this.
This beautiful Costa Rican Boruca-style mask was lovingly made by our amazing friend Kimberly and gifted to one of our recent guests. In many Indigenous traditions here, masks carry the spirit of the land. They represent protection, storytelling, and the deep relationship between humans, nature, and the unseen world.
From time to time we offer these masks as gifts to our guests as a way of honoring their time here and acknowledging the spirits of this land that hold and guide the experiences at the sanctuary.
May the wisdom of Costa Rica travel with them long after they leave.
