Easter candy is, obviously, full of garbage ingredients.

🐤Here’s what’s in Peeps, for instance: SUGAR, CORN SYRUP, GELATIN, YELLOW 5, POTASSIUM SORBATE, NATURAL FLAVORS, CARNAUBA WAX.

🪺Here’s what’s in Cadbury mini eggs: sugar, cocoa butter, skim milk, chocolate, lactose, milk fat, soy lecithin, polyglycerol polyricinoleate, cornstarch, gum acacia, corn syrup, artificial colors (Yellow 5, Yellow 6 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, Blue 2, Red 40), and artificial flavors

The options I’m suggesting here are not Good Stuff if you’re talking about an everyday snack; they’ve got lots of sugar, some of them have seed oils, most of them contain natural flavors. But they are still sooo much better than “real” Easter candy (as my kids call it!).

Anything I missed?

In our updated Disposable Diaper Guide (find it on our website!), we rank brands based on the materials they use and certifications they’ve earned:
🥇Best Stuff: Plant-based materials, strong certifications, and the highest level of material transparency.
🥈Good Stuff: Free of fragrance, dyes, and chlorine-free — but typically made with bamboo viscose or more mixed materials. (More in the guide about the issue with bamboo.)
🥉Okay Stuff: Safer overall but still rely mostly on petroleum plastics or lack full transparency.
☠️Bad & Sneaky Stuff: Use fragrance or have poor disclosure, greenwashing claims, or limited information about materials and additives.

Needless to say, I’m pro-breastfeeding. I have only two kids, but I breastfed for a total of 7 years, so you can do the math. But of course, I also know amazing parents who formula feed their (very healthy!) children.

Every formula brand claims that their nutrient blend most closely mimics breast milk. Based on our research process, we think that these two get the closest.

You might be surprised that neither of our favorite disposable diaper brands is made of bamboo. That’s because intense chemical solvents are required to turn bamboo into viscose, the material used to make a “bamboo” diaper. Our picks are made of cotton and plant-based plastics, and you can learn more about these (and 30 other diaper brands!) in the 2026 Diaper Guide on our website.

Tea arguably the healthiest thing you can drink. It’s rich in polyphenols and associated with longevity in multiple large studies.

Buuuuut (there’s always a but, tea can also contain pesticide residues, microplastics in even the paper bags, bleach, and heavy metals in some popular brands.

In our newly updated Non-Toxic Tea Guide, we break down:

• Which brands test for heavy metals and pesticides.
• Which tea bags are truly plastic-free.
• The safest options for matcha (where you consume the whole leaf).
• The difference between plant-based mesh and actual microplastic in “pyramid” tea bags.
• The brands we consider Good Stuff, Bad Stuff, and Sneaky Stuff.

You can read the full breakdown now at Gimme the Good Stuff.

As a tea drinker, it was sooo hard to narrow this down to just my favorite two brands (in terms of both safety and taste).

If you want more, our 2026 Tea Guide is live on our website, and includes all the brands we feel good about, plus of course the ones to avoid.

You may be surprised to learn (I was) that even paper tea bags can contain toxins; so can fancy, premium tea sachets. And “plant based” tea bags, often made from corn or sugarcane, are not necessarily what they seem, especially when steeped directly in boiling water.

The good news is that tea is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols that help fight oxidative stress, support your heart, and reduce inflammation. Many teas also contain compounds like L-theanine, which can promote calm focus without the jitters.

I hope our new tea guide helps you enjoy these benefits without anxiety about microplastics and heavy metals! 🫖🍵🫖🍵🫖🍵🫖
