A little more about Ayurveda and what I do as a healer and lifelong student.......
1. Western medicine has an emphasis on disease care vs disease prevention.
Trillions of dollars are spent every year on healthcare that is usually PREVENTABLE (diabetes, breast cancer, autoimmune conditions, osteoporosis, obesity, heart disease) through diet and lifestyle changes.....
With ONLY the use of Western medicine we may be ignoring the fundamental causes and continue with our suffering in 3 ways.....
1. we suffer short term from stress (due to fast paced lifestyle, not taking quality time for ourselves and overuse of electronics) and eating poor foods
2. we suffer long term on our health (when disease sets in)
3. we suffer by spending our money on medications and procedures which would not have been needed if we got to the root of the problem before it got worse.
Eastern medicine (Ayurveda) emphasizes health maintenance and disease prevention.... educating patients about how to cooperate with nature ' encouraging self awareness and leaving the responsibility up to the patients to heal.....
Both Eastern and Western medicine are of huge importance as new surgeries, procedures and certain life saving medications have been invented and saved many many lives......but, what if digging into the roots to get at the sickness rather than painting the tree a different colour worked better for the long term.......
Many of us suffer and no single factor is the culprit..... To make soup, you need more than one ingredient (lifestyle choices, diet, drugs-herbs to take or avoid, the environment in which we live), all these ingredients or factors together add up and over time make us sick and all these factors need to be taken into account if we want a different soup.......
Leave Your Drugs in the Chemist Pot IF you can heal the patient with food (and lifestyle management ' i added that part lol)
'Hippocrates
So the first thing I do when someone contacts me about healing is for them to adjust their diets and lifestyles and learn to manage stress...actually, usually the first thing i do is offer a breathing exercise for them to follow consistently for two weeks before we talk again..... I am more of a seed planter and cheerleader...
If the person listens, not much more is needed of me......its like a building effect of conciousness.
but usually......the person does not listen and from this point there is not much else i can do until Step 1 is completed...when we realize how important self care is...only then at that point i can help further.....
Changing our lives is USUALLY a MAJOR CHALLENGE reorganizing our perspectives and priorities...
Its hard to convince others these changes are needed to promote well being......but i only know this to be true from all the changes in priorities and perspectives i had to make in order to begin healing.
These somewhat SIMPLISTIC tools i offer are often ignored by the person who contacted me.....however, regardless of how COMPLICATED your situation has become, the ROOT CAUSE usually remains simple with a straightforward treatment.
So our sicknesses which are usually preventable continue destroying us as our poor choices lead to a poor mind and exhausted body leading to disease. Our stressful fast paced disconnected lifestyles are killing us, immobilizing us and making us live poor quality lives.
Usually hormonal imbalance is a culprit which comes from excess stress
The excess stress comes from lifestyle choices, poor choices, poor diet and overuse of electronics
The excess stress overtime creates Vitamin and Mineral deficiencies which lead to hormonal imbalances, depression and anxiety......
so.....it almost ALWAYS starts with STRESS and DIET.
Appropriate diet and exercise can help treat a host of ailments with only positive side effects ' add in relaxation techniques and connecting to nature and you have a great remedy for healing....each person is different yet the same ' we all are a source of Love and pure Spirit but each one of us needs to adjust the elements of nature within us so that we live the most optimal conditions.
A study that came out by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that '
lifestyle and Diet changes transform us from the inside out actually altering 100s of genes, increasing the positive ones and decreasing the ones that cause disease
Ayurveda is about choosing to live life with awareness and that each and every thing we do affects us so we learn how diet and our lifestyle affects our bodies, minds and spirits so we can make better informed choices. This requires us to pay attention to how we feel, what we do and what we think.
We cant run ourselves ragged and think we will continue to be healthy. People complain about being overweight, having low energy, feeling sick, suffering from high stress and high responsibilities but do not take care in preparing nourishing meals, engaging in appropriate exercise or addressing the causes of stress......
The first responsibility is YOU.
