🌊PVA Community Spotlight Charles (8 retreats & counting)

This week we’re celebrating someone very special in our community — Charles, who is joining us for his 8th Pura Vida Adventures retreat. 🩵

Charles surfed a ton as a teenager. It was part of who he was.
Then… life happened. Work. Responsibilities. The years rolled by.

Thirty years later, in his 50s, some friends invited him to Costa Rica for a Pura Vida Adventures retreat. He said yes but he was nervous.

Would he still have it?
Would he remember how to surf?
Would it feel the same?

Here’s what he shared:

“PVA helped me rediscover my surfing and the joy the sport brings: the activity, the people, the location.”

And wow… did he rediscover it. 🔥

Charles surfs beautifully. Powerful, confident, smooth. But what we love most isn’t just how he rides a wave — it’s how he shows up for the community.

Over the years, he’s built lifelong friendships here. Beach dinners. Sunset sessions. Early morning paddles. Chats in the lineup. He and Tierza have become surf buddies when he’s in Costa Rica — encouraging each other into waves and cheering each other on like teenagers again.

That’s what this is about.

Not just surfing.
Not just vacation.

It’s about passion that never really leaves you.
It’s about saying yes even after 30 years.
It’s about community that feels like home.
