Flu Vaccination 2025
Why get the flu vaccine?
The flu vaccine helps protect you and those around you from influenza:
• Reduces your risk of getting sick
• Prevents severe illness or hospitalization, especially for people with chronic conditions
• Protects vulnerable groups like babies, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems
• Helps stop the spread of flu to family, friends, and coworkers
• Supports a healthier winter season
Who should get the flu vaccine?
The vaccine is strongly recommended for:
• People 60 years and older
• People with chronic health conditions (heart disease, lung disease like asthma or COPD, diabetes, kidney disease, weakened immune system)
• Residents of care facilities
• Healthcare workers or anyone in close contact with vulnerable people
Who should not get the flu vaccine?
• People with a severe allergy to a previous flu vaccine or any ingredient (e.g., egg protein)
• People with fever or acute infection → wait until recovery
• Anyone who had a serious allergic reaction after a previous flu shot
Tip:
Even healthy people are encouraged to get vaccinated, as they can still catch and spread flu. The flu shot is safe and recommended every year.
