Facing a decision making? Have you ever heard about SWOT analysis? Clear and easy tool to present the existing pros and cons of our decision.

SWOT Analysis is a tool, originally from management theory, which can be helpful for considering the likely outcomes of decisions and actions.

Just grab a piece of paper or your digital notepad, divide the page into 4 panes and write there:

🟒 Strengths:
What are the potential strengths or advantages of taking this action?

🟒 Weaknesses:
What are the potential weaknesses or disadvantages of taking this action?

🟒 Opportunities:
What are the potential opportunities that could arise as a esult of taking this action?

🟒 Threats:
What are the potential threats that could arise as a result of taking this action?

Point out all the factors that you have in your mind.

Looking at the factors above, what does your gut feeling tell you?

Helpful? I hope so! 😊

Have you ever felt that the first information you obtained about anything seemed to be the most important? πŸ€”The way you perceive certain things for the first time determines the way you treat and understand other information.

The anchoring effect is also known as the "focalism" effect is the cognitive bias which is a psychological phenomenon that confirms the first information we learn about a certain topic βš“οΈβš“οΈβš“οΈ

The first information is the easiest to remember and has the greatest impact on subsequent decisions.

It can be said that the first thing we receive from some source is the thing that most perpetuates in our memory. But this doesn't mean that we are unable to remember, understand or interpret the other information.

Check out below which factors can have an impact on anchoring effect.

To make a wise decision, we usually try to "get rid of the anchor." However, we are often unable to do so. It is primarily mentally difficult. Therefore, the final decision will always be made on the basis of an "anchor", in one way or another.

Fear of missing out (FOMO) is a social anxiety stemmed from the belief that others might be having fun while the person experiencing the anxiety is not present. It is characterized by a desire to stay continually connected with what others are doing.

A person suffering from FOMO cannot properly determine what is overlooking and what is the real cause of the fear.
It is not associated with a direct threat, but it is undoubtedly a negative feeling. It only discharges when a person from FOMO checks notifications on the phone or sits at the computer.

πŸ”΅ Have you found yourself constantly refreshing social media?

πŸ”΅ Have you noticed that during eating meals you can't tear yourself away from your smartphone?

πŸ”΅ Have you observed that during meetings with friends you still have a phone in your hand or on the table?

Guess many of you have answered YES
at least on one of the questions. What we can do about it? 🧐

πŸ–€ When eating meals, try to put your phone to another place so that you can focus on the taste of the dish.

πŸ–€ You don't meet your friends to look at the screens. You do it to feel their presence and real attention, so try to leave a phone in your bag during conversation and spending time with other person.

πŸ–€ Plan one hour a day (or more) without your smartphone and computer. Focus on the tasks to be carried out and what surrounds you at that moment.

The amygdala in the brain, the center responsible for emotions, is strongly connected to the hippocampus - a place responsible for memory. 🧠 When both these centers work properly, it's possible to learn new things efficiently and effectively. So when we feel emotions, the amygdala is stimulated. Stimulating this place causes a stronger stimulation of the hippocampus. Therefore, the brain remembers much more when, in addition to dry facts, emotions are also involved. πŸ–€ Robert Spitzer (who was a psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at Columbia University in New York City) conducted an experiment in which, depending on the emotional context, he made surveyed people to remember specific words. It turned out that people who felt positive emotions remembered much better than those who felt negative emotions. 🧐
