What is the baby scan project?

The routine obstetrical examination includes several aspects of discussion with your gynecologist and sometimes you just want to have a bit more … of your baby!

We perform a baby wellbeing check of fetal heartbeat and movements, 2D growth scan including your baby's estimated weight at the time of the scan and umbilical cord Doppler assessment of the placental circulation.

Assessing placental blood flow plays an important role in screening for impaired placentation and the associated complications of pre-eclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction and perinatal death. We recommend that you present your growth scan results to your usual health care professional whose contact details we take at the time of booking if you want.

During the examination souvenir images of your baby using 3D will be taken. This is only for single pregnancies of 27 – 32 weeks.

Have your 3D scan images sent to you in seconds using our phone application - a safe and secure system for the delivery of ultrasound scan images to your mobile device that uses the latest technology to bring your scan images in a format that can be saved forever or shared at the touch of a button.

*Please note that a 4Dscan of your baby is a free option but not the primary purpose of the scan. We are therefore unable to extend appointment times or offer free rescan options solely to provide 4D clips if your baby’s position is not ideal at the time.
