Load Adaptation - Train Smarter and Harder
Wrapped up an amazing 2-day workshop focused on how training harder can achieve a decreased risk of injury.

We got hands-on experience on building a tailored program for the individual's needs by:

🔸️ Monitoring and progressing training loads- based on athletes capacity and response to load.

🔸️ How to apply microdosing polarization (1-2 hard days with appropriate rest and deload).

Key takeaways from the workshop were: hard training does not lead to injuries, poorly planned load progression does. A chronic high workload can mitigate to decrease the risk of injury.

A 12-week walk-run program was tested in adults with chronic, non-specific low back pain. At the start, 25% of the participants believed running was unsafe. This fear is a common misconception, often based on outdated data or past negative experiences. Many participants worried that running would worsen their pain due to its impact on the body.

◾️ Current research doesn’t support these fears, and avoiding activity may actually be counterproductive, however.

◾️ In fact, what the study found was that the 12-week-run program helped reduce pain and improve attitudes toward running and exercise.

◾️ The study concluded that running could be a safe and beneficial exercise option for people with low-level chronic back pain.

🆘️If you have moderate or severe back pain, reach out to your physiotherapist if you’re not sure whether walk-run programs are a fit for you.

Should you push through soreness or slow down?

Soreness is normal in both training, and rehab- it means your body is adapting. Progress comes from stressing tissues the right way. If soreness feels sharp, lingers, or affects movement, however, it might be time to adjust.

Don’t stop completely. Instead, use it as a chance to reassess and modify with your physiotherapist or coach.
