The option of egg freezing (social freezing) is often perceived as a “fertility insurance.”

The reality, however, is more complex.

🔍 The success of egg freezing depends on:

age at the time of egg retrieval
overall health condition
partner’s s***m quality
number of retrieved eggs (often more than one cycle is needed)

According to available studies, a woman under the age of 38 needs approximately 40 eggs to have a realistic chance of a future live birth.

For women under 35, around 20 eggs may be sufficient.

Social freezing can be a valuable way to increase the chance of pregnancy at a later age — if its possibilities and limitations are well understood.
