Did you know the holidays are one of the most stressful times of the year? Compounded by all that’s happened in your life in the past year?

Yes, don’t be surprised if you felt overwhelmed this Christmas.

If you found yourself struggling, you’re not alone, and we can agree it feels awful and lonely.

Or, perhaps you felt no emotion at all, you feel numb, disconnected from your own life. It’s like seeing your life fall apart from an outsider’s perspective. You’re tumbling in a crisis.

Well, there is hope.

First, this crisis won’t last forever.

Secondly, if you’re looking for solutions, you’re in the right place.

After both experiencing a life crisis personally, and walking with others through theirs in my profession as a surgeon, I have written workbooks and books, to help you through this season in your life.

But these are not your usual self help books. They aren’t a one size fits all approach.

While I can guide you as you go through these workbooks, I know that YOU are the expert of your own life and I believe that YOU can find the best solutions for your life.

With insightful questions and places to put down your answers, the workbooks don’t stop there. Each chapter explains the concepts and provides examples to help challenge your thinking so you can MASTER the life crisis. Not fight the crisis. Not conquer the crisis. But MASTER the crisis.

New Year’s is coming.
Do you have all your resolutions ready? Or did you, like millions of others, not follow through for more than a few weeks of last year’s goals?

You’re not alone.

The pressure we feel to “turn over a new leaf” at the beginning of the year is built into the culture.

So why do we fail to follow through?

Well, you need to know yourself first.

What does that even mean and what does that have to do with goals? Well, let’s think about the holidays we went through before the new year…

Very few people got through these holidays without some level of stress. Every year you face similar questions and have to make so many decisions.

Where will you be for the holidays? Will you be alone? Have you had a major loss this past year? Are you going to be with your family? (There are inherent family issues, even if you get along, for the most part.) Are you going to participate in all the traditions or do you want to do something different? Have you thought of presents for everyone? Do you have social events you feel obligated to attend, but maybe don’t want to? Or, do you yearn for companionship and feel lonely?

As you can see, there are so many ways to be stressed. And most of us just plow our way through from mid-November to the beginning of the next year. Then, in a tired, stressed state, we try to set lofty goals for the new year.

Often, these goals are “should” goals.
I should be healthy, so I’ll set a goal.
I should exercise, so I’ll set a goal.
I should quit smoking, so I’ll set a goal.
I should be more organized, so I’ll set a goal.

“Should goals” are not authentic and can lead to feeling guilty.

So what does stress have to do with forming goals?

Times of sustained stress are an opportunity to learn about what makes you tick and to learn what you truly believe deep inside.

But most people miss this opportunity for growth.

Whether you’ve experienced stress from the holidays or you’ve had a life crisis in the past couple of years, you basically have 2 options for dealing with that stress.
Try to get out of the stress and avoid it in the future. (no personal growth)
Look inside yourself and know what's going on so you can GROW through the stress and be stronger on the other side.

When your deep seated beliefs don’t match your reality, you feel stress. So instead of just trying to remove or relieve the outer stress, it’s far more productive and healthy to understand what’s causing this internal conflict.

As a surgeon in oncology, I accompanied many patients through life crises. I experienced them myself personally. What I learned from helping myself and others is that stress is an opportunity to GROW.

What I’ve done is created free eBooks to help you begin to understand what happens during a life crisis or times of great stress and how you can grow through it instead of running away or fighting it.

Once YOU understand what makes YOU tick, you can make healthy decisions for yourself and set authentic goals. Goals that you believe in. Goals that challenge you. Goals you strive to keep and grow from.

When the Christmas Bells Stopped Ringing

We just made it through the busiest holiday season…Christmas.
I hope you've experienced the most pleasant and beautiful time, but the truth is… not everyone has had a “holly, jolly” experience.
We started out with the best intentions… and then everything changed.

Out of nowhere, some of you faced a sudden and real challenge in your life - job change, health changes or family dynamics. Or, every year it's just the same crappy feeling rising to the surface.

What started as a mild and warm holiday season felt more like an intense storm right in the middle of your life. Maybe you felt helpless and overwhelmed with its sudden arrival. Or, violently emotional - rage, fear, blame, guilt, loss, hopeless, fed up, depressed… or simply alone.

Or, you may felt no emotion at all - you felt numb, as if seeing your life fall apart from the outside.

You started stumbling and tumbling in a crisis.

It's like a toothache that is constantly, miserably there. You need relief fast. You’re looking for solutions, not excuses.

So, what can you do?

Talk - You can get a lot of your chest by talking to a trusted person.

Write - By writing you will give your chaotic thoughts and feelings a structure.

Get Help - Everyone in the world experiences crisis at some point in their lives, and sometimes a crisis can become traumatic. Don't delay any longer. Reach out for information and professional help - and that's what I'm here for.
