I am in a transition phase and exploring what sort of offers I can provide in integrative health medicine in Berlin and online.

It would bring together my years of professional training and practice as a medical doctor, particularly in integrative medicine and draw from personal experience with my incredible health journey.

It needs to have a high level of integrity and be in alignment with my higher purpose of practicing sacred medicine, be free of dogma and pseudo-spirituality, incorporate excellent functional medicine and sound science, psycho-spirituality, conscious sexuality, biomechanics, environmental medicine, epigenetics and have a focus of healing on all levels.

If you have ideas of what that could look like, have done a serious amount of your own personal development and feel in alignment with this, are interested in collaborating, networking or supporting a new vision of medicine or know of other people doing this then I would love to hear from you on lovelife@drjoannabauer-savage.net.

If you feel excited about this, please feel free to add useful ideas in the comments below!

I haven’t done a walking meditation for ages. The last time would have been at the beach on a Sunday morning alone in Raumati South in New Zealand. This Saturday at Treptow Park in Berlin reminded me of my first ever walking meditation at the Joe Dispenza week long retreat in Australia years back. It as on the beach with nearly 2,000 people and I witnessed a woman walk out of her wheelchair after years of being unable to walk. Today people around the world walked in a walking meditation initiated by Joe Dispenza for peace. It was moving and beautiful. I was excited to see buddies online walking in NZ too and to feel connected with people walking at the same time worldwide. A bonus: it was the first day in several weeks I could walk properly again. But that was before the walk 😉. Feeling calmer and grateful.

I’ve been meditating almost daily and got back into my groove and am using it to help heal my body. My heart rate variability went up to 127 this morning - usually it’s around 30 on a good day. Rest has also brought it up higher than my average. I love the meditations by Joe Dispenza. Today was changing Beliefs and Perceptions to try to turn off time pressure anxiety I have continued to experience. , , , ,

Passion, grit, commitment and hard work. It gives me great joy to see my daughter ride. She’s so graceful on a horse. She has a quiet steady patient essence about her that is gentle yet firm that they respond so well to. Magic. A wild woman in the making.

I was moved by this sign in the underground in Berlin - options for homeless people (and their dogs) to find a warm place to sleep for the night. We were down to -8 degrees on the weekend and I was so grateful for my warm well insulated mould free home. There were times in New Zealand where we had neither and it was a humbling experience. Conflict, inflation, people’s values and the higher cost of energy are really affecting peoples lives. We’re all in this together even though we may not think we are or choose to turn a blind eye. It makes me feel hopeful and sad at the same time and think about what I can change or do that will make a difference.

Today I found an interesting link between the use of pesticides and obesity and found that the pesticide linked with this called chlorpyrifos is frequently used in New Zealand.

It is a good example of how the environment we live in affects our health and how closely linked and dependent we are on creating and sustaining healthy ecosystems.

Given that obesity is considered to be one of the greatest risk factors for a severe infection with COVID - likely due to the pro-inflammatory state it is associated with - and given that one in three kiwis over the age of 15 years are considered to be overweight, findings like these just highlight how complex and multifactorial health and wellbeing are.

In integrative medicine we often see patients who are not doing well despite their best efforts. Often enough it is due to toxicity of some sort - chemical (medications, environmental, personal care), biotoxin (mould and yeasts) and heavy metals that are compromising their system and it is a complex process to support their bodies to safely eliminate these and repair the damage that has been done.

How can you reduce your chemical footprint on the environment and what can you do to reduce your exposure to chemicals?

Would it be a possibility to stop spraying in your garden and replace these with natural alternatives and support the environment by having a wild area in your garden?

Other great ideas are to grow your own fruit and veggies, buy as much organic as you can afford and avoid the dirty dozen - the 12 most sprayed "healthy" foods: https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty-dozen.php

If you love the nitty gritty - here is more info to read about the use of chlorpyrifos in NZ and suggestions to have it banned: https://www.eds.org.nz/assets/University%20Essay%20Competition/Abby-Hutchison-Chlorpyrifos-Essay.pdf?k=0aceff14db

Researchers discovered that chlorpyrifos, which is banned for use on foods in Canada but widely sprayed on fruits and vegetables in many other parts of the world, slows down the burning of calories in the brown adipose tissue of mice. Reducing this burning of calories, a process known as diet-induce...

I’ve fallen into the trap of using my smartphone more and more - it’s undeniably useful. However this article is a good reminder to buy a wired headset, turn my phone on aeroplane when driving and charge my phone overnight in another room turned off. Small things that could make a big difference…. And an even bigger take home - to limit my children’s use on them.

Post update: Since writing this post I have really worked hard (despite being in lockdown!) to reduce my phone use and am doing well with this! Intention and will really go a long way.

I also employed an expert just before lockdown to measure electrosmog in our home and was relieved to find out that our house was actually pretty good but had a lot of "dirty electricity" that was easily remedied with a special plug in several areas of our house. Placebo or not - I feel a difference.

I was however HORRIFIED however, to see how much electrosmog my desktop was giving off - especially when the WIFI is off at the modem but in the "on mode" on my desktop. I learnt that there is more activity on your device if it is searching for a WIFI signal the further away it is from a WIFI source.

It was also an eyeopener to see how much more electrosmog there was at different distances away from the modem when the WIFI was on. I am glad we turn it off at night, during lockdown though with work for me and hubby and the kids at school - the WIFI needed to be on a lot more than I would have liked. I have hard wired my desktop and that will mean I can turn the WIFI off during the day once everyone is back at school and work :-).

My take homes are to keep your device use to a minimum when not needed, turn of the WIFI on the modem and the turn off WIFI on your device when not needed and if possible - hard wire your main computer for work.

Does exercise help protect against severe COVID-19?

Have a look at this easy to read study below. In short, the answer is yes and the benefits help many other aspects of health too.

It’s a good place to start to empower and support your health and we’re so lucky here in New Zealand that we can get outdoors and be active!

I’m out in the dunes and on the beach most mornings around sunrise and pinch myself with gratitude for living in such a beautiful place. I always return home buzzing.

See if you can add an exercise routine in nature to your daily life 🌿
