„to assume that attending competitions only in Order to compare yourself with others is Short sighted. I started competing After I was Sick for 2 years. For me it was a celebration of coming back to live! I keep competing to this day because it is a great way to: meet Beautiful people and places I probably wouldnt have the opportunity to meet otherwise, to celebrate live and to Show my love for the Sport and inspire others whats possible if you believe in yourself and devote yourself to. Apart from that it’s clearly about improving myself as a being- i.e. whenever there is Ego involved in my Diving it’s a lesson to learn Not something to be boosted but busted!“
I was invited by my friend to share my vision of freediving, after a video that has been circulating and showing a distorted and dangerous image of our sport.
Watching it, I also feel that we may have reached a breaking point: either we let things go downhill, or we take a stand and stop this madness now.
What is shown in that video is not normal.
It is not freediving.
It is a reckless attempt to grab attention at all costs, with ego and no respect for the sea or for life itself.
It is selfish and destructive — for those involved and for all of us who love this sport and what it represents.
I’ve been freediving for 20 years and I still love like the begging!
For me, freediving is first of all about enjoying every single moment and spending as much time as possible in the water — because I love it deeply.
It gave me balance, joy, discipline, and a profound connection with the ocean that goes far beyond numbers or medals.
Every dive is a dialogue with the sea, a way to discover and to grow.
Freediving is not about breaking yourself for a few seconds of attention.
It is about building yourself, breath after breath, with patience and love.
It is possible to reach great depths without hurting yourself and without any substances — you just need to respect the process and let go of the ego.
I invite , to share their own vision of freediving with us.
Let’s remind the world what freediving truly is: love, respect, and harmony with the ocean. 🌊💙
