So excited to announce that our new sensory project ‘Hydration’, in collaboration with Japanese sound artist .japan is out today by ⚡️
Meitei, working under the new alias Tenka for this project, lives in a small island in Hiroshima. We, on the other side of the ocean in Berlin, interpreted his album into an olfactory landscape after long conversations with him who told us about his life, his creation and his connection to nature.
Fascinated by the invisible facet of scent and sound, having also respect and appreciation toward nature which are deeply rooted in our common Japanese Shinto belief, we composed 13 different plants for their therapeutic benefits, as well as their historical background and meaning. Each plant has its own stories, characteristics, tones and energies, thus the capacity to speak on our behalf.
We believe that both scent and sound have something in common by bringing big impact on us. The experiences through these senses are personal and sometime indescribable, but can nourish us, inspire us, as well as sooth us.
We hope that will be a unique sensory-experience cross-over where sound smell and scent sing, and would like to say big thanks to Jack .hardwicke who gave us the opportunity. The vinyl, CD and the scent (a pure concentrated essential oil blend and an empty sprayer to make yourself a hydration mist) are released by his UK based independent record company and also available at our store in Berlin.
