Never let take trauma over your life. Why? Trauma really is a thief and takes away all happiness, all joy, all the good moments in your life. So when we talk about trauma, it’s of course something we cannot avoid. Life is as life is. Things happen, whether it happens in our pregnancy or maybe we have lost a pregnancy or other things happen in our life that leave us feeling hurt and really down. But here’s the thing. You cannot let trauma take over because trauma will, being unsolved, take over your brain and really start ruling your life. Look, everyone deserves to be happy, no matter what happened or has happened. Everyone deserves to be free. So when we look at trauma, of course, it’s part of the brain that constantly goes uhhhh and is not able to relax. And so other parts of the brain where all the happy memories are, are often not switched on. So what can we do? There’s a wonderful method called EMDR. EMDR was created in the 70s. A psychologist saw that when we look into a certain direction, our thoughts go this way. And when we look in other ways, it changes. EMDR is also lovingly called finger movement therapy. It’s a wonderful, wonderful way of releasing unwanted doubts, worries, and even trauma. Now I have worked with EMDR for many years because I had a trauma myself because I was part of the biggest earthquake that one can experience in Nepal. And so I know from first hand how it feels when you have trauma and actually how wonderful it feels when the trauma is resolved. So trust me, no one needs to get stuck in trauma. There are ways how you can step out of the picture, put it a bit more into the distance, and feel more relief. EMDR is a great way.
