Yesterday I attended the First Friday Co-op Networking session in Berlin — this time focused on “How to Start a Startup: Gastronomy Business Models (India).”
It turned out to be an incredibly inspiring evening full of real success stories, cultural exchange, and business insights.
We heard from three founders whose companies are already building traction in the food industry:
🍱 Ready-to-eat Indian cuisine — operating across 5 locations in Berlin
A great example of how traditional flavors can scale through modern delivery models while keeping authenticity and quality at the core.
🍫 Just Nosh — Indian “better-for-you” snacks
Already available in Berlin supermarkets such as EDEKA and others. Loved their approach to product innovation, clean ingredients, and strong visual branding. A great case of how a niche snack can enter the EU retail market.
🌾 Vegalaya Foods — Millet-based products from India
A young but promising business currently active in India and exploring opportunities abroad. Their focus on sustainability, ancient grains, and health benefits makes millet an exciting category with high future potential.
What made this event special is the diversity of perspectives in one room — founders, marketers, engineers, creatives, and people from many countries openly sharing ideas and supporting each other.
Berlin’s startup ecosystem truly thrives on communities like this.
Thank you to the organizers and all speakers for the insights and warm atmosphere!
Looking forward to the next First Friday.
