This past weekend Hermann had the great honour of being invited to Manchester to teach a workshop. Manchester is home to one of the very first Iyengar Yoga communities in the world – founded in 1972, three years before the inauguration of RIMYI in Pune. B.K.S. Iyengar felt a deep connection with this community and, in 1992, offered financial support to help them secure the loan for the purchase of their beautiful Victorian–Edwardian building, which has since become the home of . Within the walls of the building – originally constructed in the early 20th century – one can still sense a special spirit. It reveals itself in countless small details throughout the house: in the lovingly crafted wooden props from the early days, the walls adorned with photographs full of memories, and, not least, in the impressive architecture of the spacious main hall. A particularly meaningful link between our German association, Iyengar Yoga Deutschland e.V., and the Manchester Institute was Jean Maslen, one of its founding members. It was Jean who introduced Claudia, Hermann, and many other assessors of to the Iyengar Yoga assessment system in the 1990s – a time when this process was still in its infancy in Germany. For that reason, it was particularly meaningful and moving for Hermann to be invited here, and to have the opportunity to teach in such a historically rich and inspiring place. Thank you to all the participants, who came from both Manchester and all over the UK but also to the great hosts and volunteers from MDIY for brining this weekend together +
