Reflections on last night’s episode on .
I do wonder, how many of you wait until something “goes wrong” before you take action to support your health and wellbeing? It was clearly highlighted last night how exercise prescription from an exercise specialist (i.e. exercise physiologist) can combat chronic disease and improve quality of life.
It would be wrong to tell you that exercise can cure any disease or ailment because we know that each case is different and there is a place for interventions other than exercise. Having said that, however, we cannot ignore the large body of evidence that shows time and time again how exercise is beneficial for individuals with chronic disease and for individuals in the healthy population.
On last night’s episode we heard from real people with lived experience of chronic illness and mental health issues who spoke about how exercise has improved and empowered them to make positive changes to their lives.
Diabetes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, mental illness, cancer and cardiovascular disease were among some of the chronic diseases mentioned and we know how prevalent these conditions are in Australia.
The message is loud and clear. Exercise is beneficial when it is appropriately prescribed and tailored to your needs by an exercise specialist. At HELM Focus, the focus is on you and in supporting you across our four pillars – health, exercise, lifestyle and movement.
