Do you love Ghee? If not, you should! :)

Have you ever thought about how you are combining your food?

Ayurveda offers a really interesting approach on how to choose a correct diet based on the elements of the food, like taste, energy quality and post-digestion effect.

Poor food combination can produce indigestion, fermentation, putrefaction and if prolonged, can lead to toxemia and disease. This incompatible food combination not only disturbs digestion but also causes confusion in the intelligence of our cells.

According to Ayurvedic text, the Sushruta Samhita ghee is beneficial for the whole body. It is great to build dhatus (tissues). Ghee is one of the most important medicines in Ayurveda because it is easy to digest and ojas building (Ojas is the vital energy that governs immunity and a sense of happiness and satisfaction). Ghee enhances memory, intellect, semen (the reproductive tract). Ghee stimulates agni and improves digestion.

Ghee combine very well together with:
Grains, vegetables, beans, nuts and seeds, meat, fish, eggs and cooked fruits;

Ghee should not be eaten together with:
Honey in the same amount;

So, pay attention to how you combine it.

Yes, we love cheese! :)

Cheese is very delicious! I think almost all of us agree with that and some people really love to add cheese to every single food.

The richness of cheese gives nourishment, comfort and contentment. However, its heaviness may create mucus in the digestive tract with a thick, creamy layer of dairy, it might slow down digestion, and encourages candida growth. Once the richness enters the blood, the blood becomes viscous and sluggish, leading to mucus accumulation in the lungs.

So, should we stop eating cheese? Wait a second, no worries! Ayurveda can help us to enjoy our cheese without feeling heavy and sluggish and minimize the side effects of it.

Adding a bit of black pepper, chili pepper or cayenne to our cheese will make it more digestible and will add some flavour as well.

And one more thing, try to consume non-processed, grass-fed, raw cheeses seasonally in moderation and mostly in the winter. In the summer, they are too heating and in the spring they are too heavy.
Small amounts of soft cheeses are traditional. Goat and sheep cheeses are lighter and much easier to digest.

Enjoy your cheese and good digestion :)
