Zu unseren analytischen Schwerpunkten zählt die Untersuchung von Lebensmitteln wie Obst und Gemüse (frisch und getrocknet), Säften, Fisch und Meeresfrüchten, Fleisch und Fleischprodukten, Backwaren, Cerealien, Tee, Gewürzen und Babynahrung auf Rückstande und Kontaminanten. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt bildet die Untersuchung von Verpackungsmaterialien, Bedarfsgegenständen und Spielwaren. Hier führen wir sowohl Migrationsuntersuchungen durch als auch die Prüfung der Produkte auf Kontaminanten. In unserem hochqualifizierten Team sind derzeit mehr als 120 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt. Mit unserem erfahrenen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsbereich sind wir in der Lage, auch außergewöhnliche Herausforderungen anzunehmen und zu beantworten. GALAB's Participates in the "Nachwuchscampus" Project's Experience Day

GALAB is a long-standing partner of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) NachwuchsCampus project.

The project aims to introduce students to STEM careers by giving them the opportunity to spend a day in different STEM-based companies and organizations to get an insight into their daily work. This is followed by the "NachwuchsCampus" Experience Day, where several of these companies and organizations presented themselves with information booths in the TUHH building to show school classes the opportunities that apprenticeships in the STEM sector can offer.

We from GALAB Laboratories participated in this Experience Day and presented our company's apprenticeship work to the hundreds of students who visited the event. To show the practical applications of our work, while giving the students an insight into the fascinating world of GALAB, we prepared some interactive experiments for them.

One of these experiments involved a puzzle illustrating the genetic analysis of food, while another experiment utilized paper chromatography to demonstrate the composition of paint used in markers.

Many students were highly interested in our experiments, and many even asked about internships. We are delighted that so many young people are showing such a keen interest in STEM subjects, and we hope that we may see them again as our colleagues in the future.

Metabolite of Nifursol: GALAB can offer DNSH analysis in animal products like meat, milk, milk powder, eggs and fish.

Nifursol is an antibiotic of the nitrofuran class that has applications in livestock disease prevention. Due to carcinogenic effects, the use of nitrofurans is banned in the EU under regulations issued by the European Commission, with reference points for action existing for their metabolites in products of animal origin.
At GALAB we can already analyse four other metabolites of nitrofurans, with the metabolite of Nifursol, DNSH, being the latest addition.

GALAB's in-house analysis for hydrocyanic acid

GALAB is one of the few laboratories in Germany that can offer the analysis for hydrocyanic acid “in-house” - meaning in our laboratory building located in Hamburg.

While many other laboratories offer the analysis for hydrocyanic acid, the samples for the actual analysis are often sent to third-party laboratories. This is not the case at GALAB - every analysis for hydrocyanic acid is carried out by GALAB itself. We can test your products such as almonds, linseed, apricot kernels and cassava concerning the European Union's new maximum levels of hydrogen cyanide bound in cyanogenic glycosides, which came into force on 1 January 2023.

FRUIT LOGISTICA, the world’s leading exhibition for fresh produce, will be held in Berlin from the 8th to 10th of February 2023, where you can meet with our Customer Service Representative Stephan Liesner.

With his expertise being based on the field of pesticide and residue analysis, he is your go-to person for any topic related to fruit and vegetable analysis at the FRUIT LOGISTICA.
