We are proud to announce another outstanding openEHR and health data expert at our German openEHR International Modeling Group BarCamp: Prof. Dr. Antje Wulff!⁠ ⁠

Antje Wulff holds the Chair of Big Data in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg and University Medicine Oldenburg. Her research focuses on the multiple use of routine medical and research data, with a strong emphasis on standardized, interoperable storage and exchange. She also explores how this data can support the development of clinical decision support systems through data-driven and AI-based approaches.⁠ ⁠

The scientific leadership of the BarCamp will be provided by Prof. Dr. Dr. Michael Marschollek from the Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics of TU Braunschweig and Hannover Medical School, where he serves as Director at the Hannover Medical School site. We are proud to have him guide the scientific direction of this event.⁠ ⁠

Somnolink at in Hannover 🙌🏽

This year, 21 members of the Somnolink consortium participated in the DGSM conference to share insights, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaboration in advancing sleep medicine.

At our Data Science Booth, we introduced sleep experts to current methods in data analytics and unveiled the new Somnolink User Interface — enabling interoperable sleep data exchange between physicians and researchers.

Somnolink was represented in several talks, highlighting:
✔️ The role of (explainable) AI in OSA
✔️ Regulatory perspectives, including the EU AI Act
✔️ Innovative, practice-driven applications in clinical care

We also hosted the first Somnolink Patient Consultancy Group meeting — to better understand what matters most to people living with OSA and to identify key challenges along the patient journey.

A big thank from all Somnolink members for the vital and engaged discussions on shaping the future of data-driven, patient-centred sleep medicine.

We are proud to announce two more openEHR experts at our German openEHR International Modeling Group BarCamp: Heidi Koikkalainen and Joost Holslag!

Heidi Koikkalainen, Director and Senior Health and Social Care Informatics Specialist at freshEHR, has been an active member of the openEHR community since 2019. She joined the openEHR International Clinical Program Board Expert Panel in 2023 and focuses on international data standards and the openEHR clinical modeling approach, driving the future of health data interoperability.

Joost Holslag, a medical doctor with a background in medicine and software development, specializes in standards-based health informatics. His work in clinical data modeling and medical user interface design bridges the gap between clinical practice and digital innovation, ensuring effective data reuse and seamless digital connections.

openEHR deserves more visibility – and this is exactly where the EHRshow comes in.

In a recent conversation, Dirk Rossbach (HIGHmed e.V.) explained why the EHRshow was created – and what it means for the future of digital health:

“We wanted to create a stage where openEHR-based applications can finally become visible. Many know that openEHR is an internationally established standard – structured, interoperable, and open. But outside the expert community, it often remains abstract. With the EHRshow, we make tangible what is already possible today. Together with my colleagues Florian Kärcher and Andreas Kling from the PMO, I have worked on this vision.”

💡 The idea behind it is as simple as it is effective:
One app, one integration, one shared foundation – and developers can already demonstrate how open health data enables innovation.

With the EHRshow, not only the standard itself becomes tangible, but above all the potential behind it: transparency, collaboration, and real applications that show what digital health can look like when data is approached openly.

“We are only at the beginning. The platform is growing – together with a community that is actively shaping the future of healthcare.”

Next step: making even more openEHR-based applications visible and further expanding the platform. Because one thing is clear:

HIGHmed e.V. Roadshow – Austausch und Impulse aus der Praxis 🚘️

Mit der Roadshow hat der HIGHmed e.V. in den vergangenen Jahren ein Format geschaffen, das den direkten Austausch mit unseren Mitgliedsstandorten in den Mittelpunkt stellte. Ziel war es, Vertrauen zu stärken, Zusammenarbeit zu fördern und gemeinsame Perspektiven in Forschung, Lehre und Versorgung weiterzuentwickeln.

Im Rahmen der Roadshow besuchten Vorstand Prof. Roland Eils, Geschäftsführer Stefan Becker und Mitglieder des Teams mehrere Standorte. Neben Gesprächen auf Leitungsebene stand vor allem der direkte Dialog mit den Teams vor Ort im Vordergrund – über laufende Projekte, aktuelle Herausforderungen und Ideen für zukünftige Kooperationen.

„Der persönliche Austausch hat gezeigt, wie wertvoll es ist, miteinander ins Gespräch zu kommen – über Erfolge, aber auch über offene Fragen und nächste Schritte. Nähe schafft Vertrauen, und daraus entsteht Zusammenarbeit“, so Susan Schmettau, die die Roadshows gemeinsam mit dem Team organisierte und begleitete.

Somit bleiben die Roadshows ein eindrucksvolles Beispiel für gelungene Vernetzung – sie zeigen, wie persönliche Begegnungen die Basis für nachhaltige Partnerschaften schaffen. Ein herzlicher Dank gilt allen, die mit Engagement und Offenheit zum Gelingen beigetragen haben! 🙏🏼

Millionen Menschen in Deutschland haben Schlafapnoe – oft jahrelang unentdeckt. Somnolink entwickelt digitale Lösungen zur Verbesserung der Versorgung von der Diagnose bis zur Langzeittherapie. 💤
