Endoscopic spine surgery continues to gain momentum across Europe—driven by high-quality education, hands-on training, and continuous technological development.

Over the past week, joimax® participated in two educational initiatives: the EndoSpine Academy course week in Zurich, which included both basic and advanced two-day workshops as well as the first module of the CSA program (Certificate of Advanced Studies); and the DIU d’endoscopie program organized by the SFCR Société Française de Chirurgie Rachidienne in Lyon.

Both formats highlighted the same key principle: the successful adoption of endoscopic spine surgery depending on a combination of structured model and cadaveric training and reliable, well-tailored instructions on special designed instrumentation.

At joimax®, we have been supporting surgeons on this path for 25 years—combining technological innovation with dedicated education concepts such as the ESPINEA® Endoscopic Spine Academy® programs, which are implemented worldwide.

As our Founder and Chairman Wolfgang Ries envisioned more than two decades ago, endoscopic spine surgery has the potential to become a standard of care. Today, this vision is increasingly reflected in clinical practice and education globally.

We thank all organizers, faculty, and participants for the professional exchange and their ongoing commitment to advancing minimally invasive spine surgery.

Welcoming our partners from Poland at joimax®

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting our polish distributor Soly sp. z o.o. at joimax® for an intensive hands-on training day at our ESPINEA® training facilities.

Spine surgeon Dr. Piotr Zawadzki joined us for a practical session focusing on our endoscopic systems, including the TESSYS® transforaminal Access Set and iLESSYS® Pro & Delta for interlaminar approaches. During the session, we demonstrated endoscope setups, instrument selection, and surgical workflows using an UpSurgeOn model.

At the same time, the Soly team participated in a technical training session with our service team, focusing on device servicing and periodic inspections to further strengthen local technical expertise.

These training sessions are an important part of our commitment to supporting our international partners and ensuring the highest standards in endoscopic spine surgery worldwide.

Thank you to everyone involved for a productive and collaborative day!

Advancing Endoscopic Spine Surgery – Together Across Borders

This week marks an important milestone for minimally invasive spine surgery in Portugal.

At Hospital Nélio Mendonça in Funchal, Madeira, the first electromagnetic navigation-guided endoscopic spine surgeries in Portugal were successfully performed using the TESSYS® technique in combination with the Intracs® navigation system.

Dr. Pedro Lima and Dr. Énia Sousa performed the procedures, both of which were supervised by Prof. Dr. Gonçalo Neto D’Almeida from Lisbon, ensuring smooth surgeries and excellent collaboration.

This achievement highlights the power of cross-regional exchange and surgeon-to-surgeon collaboration in advancing patient care.

Congratulations to the team at Hospital Nélio Mendonça on this pioneering step — and special thanks to Manuel Vaz and the entire surgyline team for their outstanding on-site support.
