There is SO much more to yoga than āsana (postures). That’s just one aspect. I find that āsana in India even seems to often be regarded as a beginner’s practice - not that it’s negative, but simply that it’s a great first step. A useful way to start the journey.
Āsana is especially useful in the West as it can function as a doorway into deeper enquiry; our awareness grows and we start asking bigger questions about life.
That’s when we’re ready for the next step.
Beyond movement there is a whole world of ancient, fascinating & life-enhancing philosophy of yoga waiting to be uncovered…
That’s exactly where my passion lies on this path.
Starting in January, we’ll explore 6 key themes of yoga’s teachings, spread out slowly & steadily across 6 months with plenty of integration time to let it inspire your practice and daily life.
Along the way this will include ~
Dharma - our ‘inner compass’ & unique life purpose
Moksha - the ultimate goal of Yoga
Antaḥkaraṇa - The tool of the mind
Ta**ra - What it is (and isn’t) and how Yoga is related
Ātma-anātma Viveka - Understanding who we are (and aren’t) in the world
Mārgas - the differing approaches to Yoga’s wider goal
Yoga Nidrā - guided themed relaxations to uncover our innermost being
Bhakti - the Yoga of devotion
Raga & Dvesha - passions of aversion & attraction
Koshas - the ‘layers’ of selfhood and the true Self beyond
Kleshas - the causes of suffering and their antidote
Vairāgya - relaxing patterns of reactivity into greater wholeness
… as well as lively discussions and space for your insights & questions
Everyone welcome ~ no experience needed, just curiosity
