This year I had the honor speaking on the Pevoc 26 (Pan European Voice Conference) in Istanbul. In my speech I talked about the different aspects of the voice. On the one hand side as a doctor I covered the health aspects on the other hand side as a countertenor who’s biggest tool is his voice and stressed the importance of healthy well functioning vocal cords.
It’s been such a great experience an besides other great speakers I visited a surgeon workshop to learn about new standards and methods. Such an enrichment and fun as well.
Now the every day life caught up to me and for the next weeks I’m going to be working in Münster in the clinic again.

It’s always nice to be reminded on trips with your beloved ones. Two years ago and I been to Paris and had a wonderful time stumbling through Paris beautiful streets and in between Coffee and delicious food soaking in that incomparable atmosphere of Paris🇫🇷🥐☕️

This is a personal matter and in my opinion of great importance for all of us, which is why I shortly summarized the article from the Guardian for you in the following.
All information and every quote are taken from the article which I have linked in my bio and highly recommend reading!
QuitGPT is a boycott movement that has spreaded rapidly across the US and beyond in the past weeks.
But what exactly is going on:
Early this year information was published stating that Greg Brockman, the president of OpenAI, has donated 25 million USD to the MAGA Inc. which made him to Trumps biggest donor of the last election cycle. According to Brockman the donations were “in service of OpenAI`s mission to benefit humanity”. To clarify that’s not what is happening with the money but instead initiatives like ICE were indirectly supported through your ChatGPT subscription.
Furthermore “OpenAI helped launch a 125m USD lobbying initiative to make sure no state can regulate AI” and “is attacking any politician who tries to pass safety laws”. They try to achieve rights which in worst case could result in mass surveillance, weapon systems and the systematically abuse of our private data and want Trump to be the only one “who is able to write rules for this most powerful technology”.
Now it’s getting even scarier after the Trump administration demanded unrestricted access from AI companies for the Pentagon, including technology for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. ChatGPTs main competitor Anthropic, standing behind the Claude AI, refused and you can probably already guess by now how OpenAI reacted. They took their chance, dumped their morals and took Anthropic`s place by quietly signing the deal with the Pentagon. Therefore, your Chats and every information you have shared with ChatGPT could now be already in possession of the Trump administration.
Additionally, since then, Trump has ordered every federal agency to stop using any of Anthropic`s technologies and declared the company a “supply chain risk to national security”.
“Basically, a corporate death sentence” for having morals, standing by company’s policies and refusing to hand out data and technology to an administration which is totally unpredictable in their actions.
Why we can actually change something by cancelling our subscription plans:
OpenAI`s investors are carefully watching subscription numbers which have already significantly dropped through the movement and OpenAI has already started running ads, something they have always stated as a last resort, which proves their desperation to bring in revenue.
They are in a very vulnerable spot and we as users got total control over their revenue. For us it is so easy to boycott and just switch to a competitor.
Your behaviour can change something about how our data is being processed and in which kind of world we live in!
So please be mindful about what you are indirectly supporting with your subscriptions, cancel and delete ChatGPT and switch to a competitor.

Heute steht schon die vorletzte Vorstellung an und die Zeit verfliegt einfach! 😩
Trotzdem habe ich in der Zwischenzeit dem Redakteur für Kultur der Märkischen Allgemeinen Zeitung, Karim Saab, noch ein Interview gegeben, in welchem er mich zu meinen verschiedenen Rollen als Oberarzt, Countertenor, Grünen Politiker und Vater befragt und das ein oder andere Detail aus mir herausquetscht. Es hat großen Spaß gemacht und das Interview ist jetzt auf der Website der Zeitung online.
Außerdem war Herr Saab bereits zu Gast in unserer Winteroper Zanaida und verfasste erfreulicherweise eine sehr positive Kritik, aus welcher auch das oben aufgeführte Zitat stammt🤫🥳🙏!

Ich werde die Rolle des indischen Prinzen Cassio verkörpern und freue mich sehr auf die nun kommenden Aufführungstage 🎭🎭 ! Das Team hat hart und viel geprobt um nun die geniale Interpretation unserer Regisseurin Rahel Thiel aufführen zu können 🥳

Die finalen Proben laufen, die Anspannung steigt aber die Stimmung ist super! 😊🎭
Hier seht ihr als Prinzessin Zanaida, im gleichnamigen Stück, in welchem diese unverschuldet in eine heimtückische Intrige gerät und mich Philipp Mathmann in der Rolle des indischen Prinzen Cisseo, der als Sinnbild der Vernunft und Integrität inmitten eines Netz aus Lügen und Leidenschaft auftritt.

In 3 Tagen ist es endlich so weit und wir treten mit unserer Potsdamer Winteroper Zanaida im vom 27.02.-07.03.2026 auf.
Ich freue mich unglaublich und es macht riesigen Spaß mit diesem tollen Team aus Künstler/innen, Sänger/innen, Bühnen- und Maskenbilder/innen und unserer talentierten Regisseurin Rahel Thiel (Bild 3) zusammen arbeiten zu dürfen. Rahel ist es gelungen eine unglaublich zeitgemäße Antwort in der Inszenierung auf ein absolut nicht zeitgemäßes Stück zu finden! Wirklich eine Meisterleistung und es ist mir eine Ehre meinen Teil dazu beitragen zu können. Danke!
Auf Bild 5 noch die Friedenskirche in Potsdam, in der wir tagtäglich proben und jetzt in den letzten Tagen noch einmal alles geben werden!

What a heartwarming evening at the Baxter Concert Hall in Cape Town ❤️
All the participants of our music outreach programme took the stage and shared everything they’ve learned this year — singing, dancing, and playing many different instruments — with such joy, confidence, and enthusiasm. 🌟
It’s truly moving to see how much they’ve grown in such a short time and how music continues to bring out their creativity, confidence, and passion. This project is a beautiful reminder how important it is to give young people the space and support to discover their potential. 💫🎵

Articles like these leave no doubt that Philipp Mathmann is establishing himself in the international Concert- and Opera business. The young German countertenor lives in Berlin, grew up in Lippstadt, Germany, and had his first lessons as a countertenor with Heike Hallaschka in Muenster. Since 2010, he has undertaken voice training with Renate Faltin (Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule, Berlin),and, since 2016, has had additional lessons with Annette Goeres (Berlin). He also received valuable inputs to his training from Ingeborg Danz, Kai Wessel and Barbara Schlick (Cologne), Antonio Lemmo (Rome),Nicholas Clapton and Dame Emma Kirkby (London). He was a scholar of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the College of Music and Dance in Cologne, and the College of Music in Detmold.
During his studies, Mathmann was awarded the German National PrizeJugend Musiziert, and at the 2011Giulio Perotti Singing Competition was honoured with not only a first prize, but an ‘extraordinary recognition’ for the best performance in the field of concert and oratorio.
Mathmann performs regularly at international European festivals such as Winter in Schwetzingen;Bremer Musikfest;Festival Oude Muziek inUtrecht; MAfestivalinBruges, Festival della valle d’itriain Martina Franca (2017), International HändelfestspieleinGöttingen (2017) and Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele (2018). He sang concerts at venues liketheTonhalle Concert Hall in Dusseldorf, at Frankfurt Opera, TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, etc.
In 2011, Mathmann made his opera debut at the Château Sanssouciin Potsdam. Since, he has continued to enjoy leading opera roles, for example, he performed at the Opera of Heidelberg, the Opera of Winterthur (2017), at the Tage der Alten Musik of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR; in 2016). In 2017 he made his debut as a recording artist, performing in the world premiere recording of F. X. Richter’s oratorio La deposizione della croce di Gesu Cristowith the Czech EnsembleBaroque. In 2018, he gave his debut in Russia singing the main role “La Bellezza” in a fully staged production of “Il Trionfo del Tempo” at the Stanislavsky Theatre in Moscow. He was the first countertenor ever to perform this soprano role.
Mathmann has participated in many productions for broadcast, working with organisations including Hessischer Rundfunk, WDR, and Dutch Classical Radio (NPO Radio 4) together with great musicians and conductors such as Philipp Chizhevskiy, Dorothee Oberlinger or Diego Fasolis.
