From Print to Perfect — Zero Adjustments Needed!
By Dr. Russell Schafer
So this week I had the chance to play with the Rapid Shape Pro 20’s Crystal Polish Reservoir, and I was impressed.
Usually, I’m printing Voco Splint, but it isn’t validated on the Crystal Polish yet, though KeySplint Soft is — so that is what I used. I don’t do a lot of night guards in my office, so I haven’t had much of a reason to play with this vat yet.
One thing that is very nice about Rapid Shape is that I love the workflows and how many resins are validated for my printer. The UI takes a bit of getting used to compared to others on the market, but after a few times playing with it, it makes sense.
The beauty of the Crystal Polish is that stuff just comes out looking pretty. I am able to print night guards vertically with minimal supports on the facial or lingual to prevent changing the occlusion, clean them up in my RS Wash, remove the supports, candy coat it slightly, and then cure in my Otoflash per the IFUs.
I used Clinux to design this night guard for my patient, and we are making her an MAD as well — but this will get her through for the next few weeks so she doesn’t break anything else. I love Clinux because the software is easy to use and everything just fits well.
I have been loving my 385 nm printers, and I can really see the difference in quality between these and my 405 nm Mini 8K and 8Ks. I mean, I should — because the Phrozens are under 400 bucks — but this printer certainly has a luxury car feel to it, in my opinion.
However, nothing is better than just putting a darn night guard in and needing zero adjustments. Patients, at the end of the day, don’t care how you make something — they just care about the experience. When things go smoothly, it is like you did nothing at all.
