Why yogis sometimes do not practice on Full or New Moon days?

This is because the moon has a direct effect on our bodies by affecting the water within us, as it does on tides. And Moons effect our emotions. Full moons bring ‘things to the full' (projects, relationships, agreements, emotions). New Moons are ‘empty' so re-newing, re-thinking (ideas, projects, relationships and commitments). It is also a good time to fast.

"The most powerful force in the universe flows through you"

Sometimes we get stuck and we do not feel this powerful force anymore - then it is time to DETOX THE MIND.

The last few weeks I've been talking about this topic on my regular yoga classes. Besides detoxifying our bodies, it is important to detox our mind, our lovely Monkey Mind too ;)

Leading a happy and successful life requires us to make healthy choices, think positively and believe in ourselves.

Taking the wrong action or taking no action leaves us frustrated, feeling powerless, hopeless and stuck. When we change our thoughts we change our lives. If our thinking is negative the outcome is negative. When we think positive the outcome is positive.

Instead of focusing on things we can’t control it’s important to identify and change the things we can.

How to start?

::: DETOX YOUR HEART :::

- Forgive and release old hurts.

- Get clear about what you control and what you don’t.

- Love yourself.

- Don't compare yourself to others.

- Purify your emotional intentions.

- Release yourself and others from ego-control.

- Let go of toxic people.

- Cultivate a truly compassionate heart.

- Open your heart and learn to express love to people other than your family and friends.

- Work through your fears.

- Learn to say no.

- Be responsible.


::: DETOX YOUR MIND :::

- Think before you speak.

- Avoid worry and anxiety. Breathe deeply.

- Refuse gossip.

- Fully accept compliments.

- Know that the mind is an amazing tool, when directed, it creates in the direction of your intention, left to its own devices, it keeps going, often returning to old thoughts and patterns.

- Recognize that all un-intended thoughts just rise and fall and you do not have to follow them where they go.

- Learn to meditate.

- Use daily affirmations.

- Be patient.

- Detox your calendar.

- Work on seeing/thinking the positive aspects of every situation.

- Be aware of what you are feeding into your mind.

- Remember that thoughts become things.

- Think nice, creative, expansive, happy thoughts whenever possible.

- Get out of your head into your HEART! ♥
