“There are plenty of options for giving you sugar and calories in labor to sustain you that probably taste a whole lot better than a lot of these gels,” said Susan Rothenberg, MD, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist at Mount Sinai Union Square and Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “But I think for someone who is used to them and likes them, I don’t see that it’s a problem.”
