Congratulations to Dr. Alejandro Lanis on this outstanding case of ridge preservation using NOVAMag® SHIELD and cerabone®!

In this case, a patient presented with a severely compromised upper right central incisor, characterized by significant probing depth, advanced bone loss, and complete resorption of the buccal bone wall. Following tooth extraction, ridge preservation was performed using a fully resorbable NOVAMag® SHIELD, contoured into an L-shape and positioned between the soft tissue and residual buccal bone - without additional fixation - to support the buccal wall defect. cerabone® was used for bone augmentation.

Radiographic and clinical analysis at 4 months post-restorations delivery demonstrated stable peri-implant bone levels, excellent soft tissue integration, and highly satisfying aesthetic outcomes

Case of the Month: Soft tissue augmentation and ridge reconstruction using cerabone® plus and mucoderm®

We are pleased to share a great case by Dr OREC - Dr. Giorgio Tabanella highlighting predictable bone and soft tissue management. The patient presented with a pronounced bucco-lingual ridge collapse and an insufficient band of keratinized mucosa. The treatment involved bone augmentation using cerabone® plus, followed by implant placement with soft tissue enhancement using mucoderm®, stabilized with a NOVAMag® S fixation screw. Primary closure was achieved with reinforced e-PTFE sutures, ensuring stability and optimal adaptation of the graft.

Clinical outcomes:
· 3 months post-surgery: STL imaging and clinical evaluation demonstrated a wider band of keratinized mucosa, increased vestibular depth, and more than 1 mm of vertical and horizontal soft tissue gain.
· 7 months post-surgery: The site exhibited a thickened and stable band of keratinized mucosa, adequate ridge height, and excellent aesthetic and functional outcomes. Implant integration remained stable, and soft-tissue architecture showed significant improvement.

This case serves as an excellent example of advanced techniques in ridge preservation and soft tissue management around implants.
