NOMINATED FOR THE EITA AWARD 2024
It’s with great honour and pleasure that we can announce that our project Solution By Inclusion has been nominated for “The European Innovative Teaching Award 2024” (EITA). It’s the European Commission’s honorary award given to exemplary Erasmus+ projects. So it’s like the Oscars of innovative teaching. This year focusing om educational wellbeing. Amazing!!!

Thank you all for making the Solution By Inclusion Multiplier Event in Aalborg such a success🙂 Over 100 participants, including students and educators from Nørresundby Gymnasium & HF, took part in the event on Thursday at NLP Aalborg’s offices in Maren Turis Gade in Aalborg. All the project results were presented by the project partners along with two workshops that presented a section of one of the methods and tools taken from the Solution By Inclusion project, co-funded by the EU.

During the last months we have been busy testing and implementing the SolutionByInclusion methods and tools at the partnering schools in Denmark, Italy and Malta. In Malta at GEM16+ the youngsters joined in the testing with energy and motivation as you can see from the pictures taken by Silvana Buttigieg, GEM16+.

Just finished our fourth Transnational Meeting with RVTS Sør, Norway, doing a very fine job as host of the online meeting.

One the things we aim for in the Solution By Inclusion project is to reduce dropout at the participating VETs. Special guests, Assistant professors Martine Stavrum Salater and Mathilde Dahlen Svendsen from the Faculty of Humanities and Education at University of Agder (UIA), Norway, gave a very interesting view into their research in regard to dropout.
They have carried out research at the small Norwegian VET-institution Byremo, based in a rural, working class area of the Agder region. Byremo only has a small number of dropouts (2 %), in contrast to the general negative dropout situation in Norway (and Nordic countries). Some key research elements from Byremo are a high communication flow, focus on building good relations between teacher and student and also the professional aspects of the specific profession.

Our partnership has for sure come a long way since the start in September 2020. Solution By Inclusion has now entered the testing phase at the participating VETs; GEM16+ (Malta), Tradium (DK) and IAL FVG (IT). Yet another milestone.

NLP Aalborg/ Center for Unges Livsmestring (DK), RVTS Sør (NO) and CABE/ Aalborg University have delivered the methods/ tools and research material to be tested by students, parents and educators at the three VETs.

We are all very excited to get testing feedback.

Our fine and dedicated partnership celebrates 2 years of Solution By Inclusion – our innovative European Erasmus+ project. What a journey we’re on to co-develop methods aimed at students and educators at the participating European VETs/ SCL at Tradium (Denmark),(IAL FVG) (Italy) and GEM16+ (Malta) to better mental health, social inclusion and prevent ESL. One important aspect of this project is discussing topics and getting feedback from all stakeholders, that is, students, their parents/guardians and the educators that teach or lecture them. This is done via Peer Advisory Boards of which there have been four at each participating VET/ SCL in the project.

When you're involved with a peer advisory group, part of your purpose is to share your own expertise and experiences. These groups do a terrific job at getting people to the table to exchange ideas and work on issues – and it can be a good chance to network and nurture connections...The goal is to exchange thoughts, opinions, challenges, problems, solutions, and best practices in a confidential, safe setting (Coughlin, n.d., p. 1).

Here we have part of the GEM16+ team working together on the Peer Advisory Board Catalogue. This involves looking at and listing strategies that enable peer learning. GEM16+ has discovered that some strategies work with their students while others do not. This could depend on the generation gap between educators and students or even on culture since the students involved come from the Scandinavian and Mediterranean regions, something that makes the project all the more interesting!

Partners NLP Aalborg/ Center for Unges Livsmestring and IAL FVG had the opportunity to disseminate and discuss the Solution By Inclusion project as the two organisations (and other partners) met physically in Italy in connection with their joint Erasmus+ Project, Digi Lives. The dissemination took place at IAL departments in Pordenone and Aviano 8.-10. of June 2022.
