🌍 World Toilet Day, “We’ll always need the toilet.”

No matter how our world changes, one thing remains constant - the need for safe, accessible sanitation.

Yet today, billions of people still live without a toilet that protects their health, safety, and dignity. For those living with bowel dysfunction, even everyday access to a toilet can be a source of anxiety, planning, and restriction - a reminder that sanitation is more than convenience; it’s a lifeline.

This World Toilet Day, we join the United Nations in calling for toilets that are fit for the future - resilient, inclusive, and accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Access to safe sanitation is a human right and essential for health, dignity, and equality.

🚽 Let’s break the silence, raise awareness and support efforts that make a real difference for people living without safe sanitation and those living with bowel dysfunction alike.

Bowel problems are one of the major challenges in the daily lives of people living with spinal cord injury (SCI). Bowel problems can place major restrictions on daily life. This may be due to both a direct impact on health and indirect consequences, such as stigma or fear of bowel incontinence.

Bowel irrigation can be a solution for those with a spinal cord injury to get better control over their bowel and improve quality of daily life.

RYK, the Danish Spinal Cord Injuries Association have collaborated with healthcare professionals and people with a spinal cord injury to create a series of films to raise the awareness of bowel irrigation as a treatment. It not only has physiological effect, but also brings a profound improvement to everyday life.
