🌱 For every child born with the help of European S***m Bank, we plant a tree🌱

Each tree we plant is a symbol of new life, growth, and care. Our trees are planted in Nicaragua as part of the CommuniTree project - an inspiring initiative led by Taking Root and supported through our partnership with Klimate. This project not only helps reforest with native trees but also empowers local farmers, creating a greener future while strengthening their communities.

🌲 Planting trees for every child born with the help of one of our donors is part of our sustainability focus, striving to make a difference for the future. Sustainability is a journey, and while planting trees isn’t the entire solution, it’s one of the ways we give something back to the planet that graciously lends us its ground to walk through life. 💚

💛 Solo mum, but never alone 💛

Meet this adorable mother/daughter combo from the Netherlands, Klariena and 7-month-old Lieke.

Like all donor-conceived children, Lieke is very much a wished-for child. Getting pregnant was quite a journey, that took Klariena 8 attempts and a switch of donors.

This is her advice to others going through a similar process:

“Share your experiences with the people around you and trust your instincts. Even though you might feel alone in this process, and it's your body doing the work, opening up to those around you makes you feel stronger. Don't feel hesitant to ask for support. Even now, with my daughter here, I receive so much help—both practical and emotional—from the people around me.

It takes a village to raise a child, whether you're on your own or part of a couple.”

Fertility myths busted 💡
It’s European Fertility Week, and we’re breaking down some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding fertility, family structures and donor conception.

✖️ Myth: Infertility is your own fault
✅ Fact: Infertility is a complex medical condition. In 25% of cases, the cause is unknown.

✖️ Myth: Men's fertility is consistent
✅ Fact: Men's fertility also declines, but more gradually than women's.

✖️ Myth: A donor child is less "yours"
✅ Fact: The bond between parent and child is built on love, care and presence, not genetics.

✖️ Myth: Solo mums hate men
✅ Fact: Many feel they can meet a partner at any stage in life. This is not the case with having a child.

✖️ Myth: A child needs both a mum and dad
✅ Fact: Love, support and stability are vital to a child’s well-being - not the amount or gender of parents.

To have an open and honest conversation about fertility, we need it to be centred on facts, not persistent myths that can be harmful and stigmatising.
