The Unit for Cognitive Neuroscience (UCN) is located at the Department of Psychology at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. UCN was founded in 1980 by Professor Jesper Mogensen at the Institute of Neurophysiology, University of Copenhagen. Our research consists of experimental studies addressing the neural substrates of cognition, neural plasticity, and brain injury rehabilitation.

We are currently looking for students with an interest in cognitive neuroscience, experimental animal models and/or in vivo pharmacology to participate in a research project that investigates the effects of a newly developed drug in the treatment of traumatic brain injury.

The project will provide you with an opportunity to get hands-on experience with experimental animal work in a neuroscientific research setting. The project is a collaborative effort between the Department of Drug Design of Pharmacology and the Unit for Cognitive Neuroscience (UCN), University of Copenhagen.

You may obtain educational credits (ECTS) for your project work – for instance, as part of an independent elective study.

For more information about the research project, please contact PhD-student Jens Bak Sommer (jens.sommer@sund.ku.dk), and visit the UCN-website: http://ucn.psy.ku.dk/Research2.htm.

We are searching for research volunteers for a project starting mid-February. In the project we are examining the effects of different exercise doses on the cognitive rehabilitation after brain injury. If you are interested in a research volunteer position at UCN, please contact Prof. Jesper Mogensen at jesper.mogensen@psy.ku.dk or PhD fellow Elise Wogensen at elise.wogensen@psy.ku.dk.

We are currently looking for research volunteers for a project investigating the effects of exercise on the restitution of cognitive functioning following brain injury.

More specifically, the project investigates the effects of administering a fixed level of exercise to rats in a period of 7 to 14 days after traumatic brain injury. Following the exercise regimen spatial learning and memory will be assessed in an 8-arm radial maze.

The project begins with a pilot project that is currently scheduled for December 2013.
The experimental work itself will commence in January 2014 and will last until March/April 2014. During this period the work-load will vary.

If you find the project of interest, please contact marie.gajhede@psy.ku.dk or jens.sommer@sund.ku.dk for further information.

We're looking for research volunteers for two projects examining the effects of social stimulation and enriched environments on the cognitive rehabilitation after TBI. One project runs from late October 2013 to late February 2014 and the other project runs in January and February 2014. Please contact marie.gajhede@psy.ku.dk if your'e interested in participating.
