Physiological Consequences of Low Energy Availability – The Underlying Aetiology of RED-S

What truly happens in the body when athletes don’t meet their energy needs — and how does this contribute to Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) and injury risk? ⚡🏃‍♀️🍽️

Join us at for a deep dive into the physiology behind low energy availability (LEA) and its impact on health, performance, and musculoskeletal injury.

💡 What you will learn:

The physiological mechanisms underlying RED-S

How LEA affects hormones, metabolism, bone health, and performance

Whether LEA increases injury risk — and what the latest research shows

How to identify, monitor, and support athletes at risk

🎤 Featured Speakers:
• Prof. Anna Melin (SE) – Physiological consequences of low energy availability – the underlying aetiology of RED-S
• Jakob Agergaard, PhD (DK) – Does low energy availability increase the risk of injuries?

🔑 This symposium is essential for clinicians, coaches, physiotherapists, and anyone working with athletes in endurance, aesthetic, or weight-sensitive sports. Learn how to spot the signs early, intervene effectively, and support long-term athlete health.

Acute Knee Trauma in Pediatric Patients – What to Do?
Early detection and diagnosis as secondary injury prevention

Knee injuries in children and adolescents are frequently overlooked, leading to delayed diagnosis, premature return to sport, and preventable secondary injuries. Recognizing early signs — especially knee hemarthrosis — is essential to protect young athletes. 🦵👦👧

Join us at for a symposium dedicated to improving early identification and management of structural knee injuries in pediatric patients.

💡 What you will learn:

Why knee hemarthrosis in youth athletes is a strong indicator of structural injury

How delayed diagnosis contributes to secondary damage and reinjury

Clinical pathways for early imaging, assessment, and rehabilitation

The importance of timely treatment to optimize healing (e.g., chondral avulsion fixation)

Strategies to ensure safer return-to-sport decisions for young athletes

🎤 Featured Speakers:
• Eva Bengtsson Moström, MD, PhD (SE)
• Eivind Inderhaug, MD, PhD (NO)
• Håvard Moksnes, PT, PhD (NO)

🔑 A must-attend session for clinicians, therapists, and anyone involved in youth sports — helping ensure early diagnosis, better outcomes, and fewer preventable reinjuries.

Can Nutrition or Dietary Supplements Improve Muscle Rehabilitation and Training Effect?
Myths and facts from research and practice

What role do nutrition and supplements really play in muscle rehabilitation and training adaptations? Are whey protein, creatine, collagen or vitamin supplements helpful — or just hyped? 🏋️‍♂️🥤

Join us at for a science-based deep dive into the evidence behind nutritional strategies and supplementation for muscle recovery and training response. This session brings together leading researchers and practitioners to separate myths from facts and translate complex research into practical guidance for athletes.

💡 What you will learn:
- Which nutritional factors actually influence muscle rehabilitation and training adaptations
- What the evidence says about common supplements (protein, creatine, collagen, vitamins, pre-workout)
- When supplements are useful — and when they are unnecessary

Practical insights from elite sport nutrition work

🎤 Featured Speakers:
• Prof. Truls Raastad (NO) – Expert in muscular adaptations, strength training, and recovery
• Søren Lavrsen (DK) – Sports nutrition specialist, Team Denmark & SDU lecturer

🔑 A must-attend session for clinicians, therapists, strength coaches, and nutrition professionals who want evidence-based clarity on one of sports medicine’s most debated topics.

"State of the Art on How to Measure Psychological Well-Being in Sports Medicine"

The symposium will explore advanced approaches to assessing psychological health among athletes. Highlighting the crucial distinction and potential between psychological traits (stable, enduring characteristics) and psychological states (temporary emotional conditions), the symposium aims to provide a deeper understanding of how these dimensions influence athlete performance, recovery, and overall well-being. Kristian Thorborg, Niklas Cederström and Ramana Piussi will discuss innovative measurement tools and methods, emphasizing the implications of trait-focused assessments in enhancing athlete mental health and optimizing sports medicine interventions.
