The year 2025 brought unprecedented stress, turmoil, and disruption to the global geopolitical order, financial markets, technological development, industrial supply chains, the global climate, the media landscape, multilateral institutions, security policies, and boards of directors worldwide.
Twenty-five years ago, the role of board directors was relatively straightforward: to fulfil their fiduciary duties by supervising the direction of the company, led by the CEO, and safeguarding the interests of shareholders.
Today, these responsibilities have multiplied in numbers and grown exponentially in complexity. Modern boards are engaged in a far broader range of issues, making it difficult to compare today’s boardroom realities with those at the turn of the millennium.
With this survey - the largest of its kind in the world - we aim to map the realities facing corporate boards of directors in 2026.
As we do every year, InterSearch – Worldwide Organization of Executive Search Firms, in partnership with Board Network - The Danish Professional Directors Association, is conducting the Global Board Survey 2026. You are kindly invited to share your insights and experiences as chair and/or board member of one or more corporate boards.

The questionnaire will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. We greatly appreciate the time and effort you invest and will, in return, provide robust insights and guidance from other prominent and experienced board directors on how to remain agile and stay ahead of key megatrends - helping you stay on top of the board agenda, strengthen competitiveness, and support growth ambitions. All responses will be treated anonymously and kept strictly confidential.
If you serve on more than one board, please answer all questions with one specific board in mind—preferably the board with which you feel most closely affiliated.
Should you wish to receive the Survey Report as a PDF when the analysis is complete, please provide your email address at the end of the survey. Your email address will, of course, be kept fully confidential. Publication of the report is expected in March 2026.
