This real-life challenge is the reason our systems are built differently.

Instead of selling individual freezers, we engineer fully integrated ULT storage solutions designed around how facilities actually operate and respond to failure - because temperature excursions often originate from normal daily use.

This is why airflow design, access strategy, and layout structure matter far more at -80 °C than most people expect.

Sustainability in ULT storage is not only about adding “greener” freezers.
It is about changing the system logic.

Traditional ULT setups scale by adding more freezers.
So, the math goes like this:

More units = more power = more heat = more infrastructure - more risk.

Integrated ULT systems scale differently.

Instead of stacking freezers, capacity is engineered into the system:

✔️ Significantly fewer freezers
✔️ Centralized and optimized cooling
✔️ Lower energy consumption per stored product
✔️ Up to 75% less floor space due to system design

In a LOWENCO setup, one large-scale storage unit (LSSU) can replace up to 42 upright freezers while holding the same storage capacity.

We often see that most ULT failures do not start with a dramatic breakdown…

… They start quietly!

Showcases could be:
❌ A sensor drifting out of calibration
❌ A compressor compensating a little longer than it should
❌ A system relying on “someone noticing”.

By the time the alarm triggers, the failure has already happened.

The temperature curve simply has not caught up yet.

And this is the exact reason why our engineers do not design for alarms – we must look into solutions that are design for failure containment!
.. If a single failure can put your products at risk, the solution is not strong enough for 2026, even though the monitoring looks advanced.
