Your industry may be limiting you.

If you want to improve your patient experience and make people feel more comfortable in your space, you probably want to go to a nice restaurant or a hotel.

If you want to improve your communication skills, you probably want to study stand-up comics, motivational speakers, or people in performing arts.

Your biggest opportunity to level up often comes from outside your industry.

“Aging does not impair motor neuron adaptations.” (doi: 10.1113/JP290541)

This study was able to show strength gains and neural adaptations after a 4 week strength program in older adults.��Implications? We want to Load Early and Load Often. In , we can often elicit QUICK change that has MEANINGFUL implications in function.��Time is of the essence. Don’t waste it.

Don’t discredit the impact of smaller step count goals.

Going from 2,000 steps per day to:
🚶4,000 steps per day reduces all-cause mortality by 25%
🚶‍♀️7,000 steps per day reduces all-cause mortality by 47%
🚶‍♀️10,000 steps per day reduces all-cause mortality by 53%

There are SIGNIFICANT outcomes to be had below 10,000 steps per day.

We need to prepare ourselves, the patient, & the caregiver for this scenario.

🤔Do you have a plan?
🤔What’s the best sequence consider considering your patient’s abilities?
🤔Do you know where you’d want some furniture?
🤔Can the caregiver do this transfer as well?

These are all things we need to consider to make a Mod-Max assist floor transfer less intimidating.

The implications are huge. You are more likely to challenge that patient because you know you can get them up from the ground. The caregiver is more likely to do more with that patient because they know they can handle that worst case scenario.

Don’t shy away from the ground. Make the floor familiar.

Why in the world are we doing this retreat? We're just a "gym" right?

We are a gym...but as our members know we are so much more.

The SL team works our tails off to give our members the best training available for folks over 55 so they can lead a Stronger AND Better Life.

This retreat is the full expression of that. It's a way for people to put that Stronger Life on display. It's a way to reap the rewards from all the hard work in the gym so you have the ABILITY to take that trip...to try that adventurous activity...to take that chance.

It's a beautiful thing to experience and even a cooler thing to witness.
