Hello New Essence Magazine family. I knew someone was talking great about us when I noticed all of you coming to follow around the same time but I had no idea it was you Dr. Saudi García We thank you! It seems appropriate to reintroduce us from a Black ownership perspective.
Although we are known as Casa Bienestar, our initiative has grown into the affirmation “Yo Soy Mi Cura” reconnecting and awakening our inner healer. To that end we focus on relaxation via yoga, massages and Ayurveda nutrition. I, Anyi Espinal, co-founder of this initiatives dedicated my academic years and post graduation employment journey to Black liberation, starting with me of course. Before migrating to the US, I self identified as a india Dominican (dique blanquita), this was the safest card, but thankfully to the Women of Color organization in college the brainwashing was dismantle and I reclaimed all my roots. That broke my first mental chain and I dedicated my work to youth advocacy, prison system reform, and most recently to teaching cultural Intelligence. After 19 years in the US, I grab my things and returned home to DR where I certified in Hatha Yoga Meditation. Here, I belong to all things, I walk freely surrounded by all the beauty and reassurance that men and women look like me and I look like them. Here I belong.
My two partners, Neulyn, a certified masseuse therapist and Miguel, whom we met while eating in his vegan restaurant in la zona colonial, decided to bring our gifts together because we love offering what we love to do. And we also truly love being together. I can go on and on about each of these two characters. Visit us and see for yourself. It hasn’t been easy because none of us owned a business before but since 2020 our doors are open. It’s all word of mouth, no social media ads or else, just people that visit and love us tell other people they love to call me.
