Des scientifiques de l'Université de Newcastle ont imprimé en 3D les premières cornées humaines au monde.

En créant une encre bio spéciale utilisant des cellules souches mélangées à de l'alginate et du collagène, ils ont pu imprimer la cornée à l'aide d'une simple bio-imprimante 3D à faible coût.

Après de nouveaux tests, nous espérons que cette nouvelle technique pourra être utilisée pour lutter contre la pénurie mondiale de cornées chez les 15 millions de personnes nécessitant une greffe.

In a new study published in the Nature Journal "Scientific Reports", neuroscientists at the University of Glasgow have used functional MRI to show how the human brain can predict what our eyes will see next.We move our eyes approximately 4 times per second, meaning our brains have to process new visual information every 250 milliseconds. Nevertheless, the world appears stable because our brains think ahead.

Good news for patients with Keratoconus.The FDA granted orphan drug designation to IVMED-80, an eye drop used for cross-linking the cornea to treat Keratoconus. IVeena Delivery System will begin clinical development in 2018.
