Freestyle Libre is a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGM) used by people with diabetes to monitor their blood glucose levels. It consists of a small sensor that is placed on the back of the upper arm, which continuously measures glucose levels in the interstitial fluid under the skin. The sensor is connected to a handheld reader or a mobile app on a smartphone that displays the current glucose level, as well as trends and patterns over time. The system also allows users to set alarms to alert them if their glucose levels are too high or too low. The Freestyle Libre system is known for its convenience and ease of use, as it does not require fingerstick blood glucose testing throughout the day.
