The WPA Early Career Psychiatrists Section is launching three awards to highlight the work ECPs are doing across research, collaboration, and advocacy.
Because good work shouldn’t stay invisible.
Whether you’re leading a project, building something, or contributing to change…this is for you!
Do you have a colleague in mind? Share this with them!

You’re the only doctor on call tonight.
Most of us have been there.
Colleagues start going home.
The hospital grows quiet. Your heart is racing.
You reread your notes.
You check your phone again. And again. Just to make sure you didn’t miss a call.
It can be scary. And no one really talks about it.
Here’s our tested advice to make it easier:
1️⃣Ground yourself. Take 3 slow breaths when you feel overwhelmed
2️⃣Don’t forget to eat. Busy shifts make it hard to eat a full meal. Bring snacks you can have quickly.
3️⃣Ask for help. You are not expected to handle everything alone. Nurses and senior doctors are part of your team.
How was YOUR first night s**t?

On World Health Day, we celebrate the role of the World Health Organization in advancing global health and fostering scientific collaboration worldwide.
This year’s theme, “Together for Science,” highlights the importance of evidence, partnership, and shared expertise in addressing global health challenges.
In this spirit, we look back at the Build Better Before (BBB) workshop held in December 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This WHO capacity-building initiative strengthens preparedness and response for mental health and psychosocial needs in humanitarian crises.
The WPA Early Career Psychiatrists Section remains committed to strengthening the capacity of its members to respond effectively to emergencies and humanitarian crises, in alignment with the Section’s Action Plan 2025–2028.

For World Autism Awareness Day, it’s important to remember: autism does not end in childhood.
Many health systems remain heavily focused on early childhood, leaving important gaps later in life.

On Bipolar Disorder Day, we chose to step back and invited an Expert by Lived Experience to use our platform to share their story.
Too often, bipolar disorder is spoken about, not by those who live it. Today, we make space to hear and to learn.
Because lived experience is essential if we want to advance mental health care.

Everyone says you need a good CV, no one tells you HOW to make one.

Preparing your CV for international applications can be challenging when english is not your first language. It often means adapting more than just the language.

These tips can help:

• Check country-specific CV rules
Format, terminology, and length vary by country.

• No photo unless explicitly requested
Why? Avoid bias in international applications.

• Use reverse chronological order
Show your most recent experience first in each section.

• Avoid non-international abbreviations
Only use abbreviations and acronyms that are widely used and easily recognizable.

• Rephrase experience; don’t translate literally
Describe tasks and titles when you are not sure the literal translation conveys the intended meaning.

• Separate clinical, research, and teaching experience
It helps the reader identify your sections easily.

Save this post for extra help on your next application! 😉

Best of luck 👏🏼

💫 Psychiatry through art : "The Scream"

Munch’s The Scream is a global icon of terror and inner turmoil.
It captures moments of crisis and fear, reflecting the universal tension between the individual and their environment.

What does this scream make you feel?

The world is changing fast when it comes to social media and teenagers. Ban it, restrict it, or redesign it?

Opinions are divided not only in the general population, but also among mental health professionals.
