🎉Celebrating World Field Epidemiology Day – September 7 🎉
Egypt Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) proudly celebrated World Field Epidemiology Day during a workshop titled "Outbreak Investigation", as part of the newly launched Vector Control Track of the Basic Level of FETP — the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
👩🔬👨🔬 32 agricultural engineers across Egypt are participating in this unique training, designed to enhance national capacity in preventing, detecting, and responding to vector-borne diseases.
Dr. Amr Kandeel, Deputy Minister of Health, emphasized that since its launch in 1993, Egypt’s FETP has played a key role in building public health capacity. This new track reflects Egypt’s ongoing leadership in health security and highlights the essential role of field epidemiologists in emergency preparedness and rapid response.
Dr. Nima Abid, WHO Representative in Egypt, commended the program’s alignment with the global priorities of health security, praising its direct impact on improving disease surveillance and outbreak response capabilities at the national level.
Dr. Rady Hammad, Head of Preventive Medicine and Public Health Sector, highlighted the importance of building practical skills for outbreak response, and praised the ongoing efforts of the ongoing national efforts in mapping and managing disease vectors.
