Hypermed, a medical organization specialized in the field of diving and Hyperbaric medicine has started in 2006 to operate in Hurghada with a diving medicine clinic and has launched its first Recompression and Hyperbaric Chamber in june 2007 in a complete diving emergency center in front of the Hurghada Airport. Our membership

1- Diving Staff membership

Hypermed offers diving instructors, divemasters and certified dive leaders who work in the RED SEA 2 types of annual membership:

Hypermed Clinic Annual membership:

This covers unlimited visits to the clinic for regular checks, common illnesses (cold, diarrhea, bronchitis, etc). Diving Certificates including ENT, Lung function tests and ECG. Cost : 50 Euro


Hypermed Decochamber and Clinic Annual membership:

This membership covers the above services plus the treatment in the decompression chamber

in the unfortunate event of a diving accident (decompression sickness or air embolism). Cost: 70 Euro

**Hypermed members have the privilege of phone consultations for diving related problems all the time.

**Diving Staff of Hypermed affiliated diving centers and safari boats are automatically members having the service of treatment in the decompression chamber in the event of a diving accident.




2- Diving Guests membership


Residents divers( Foreigners and Egyptians)

Hypermed offers the same 2 previous programs with the same cost. Tourist divers ( diving center divers and safari boats)

Hypermed offers the Diving Assistance Program for the duration of 4 weeks
membership that covers the treatment in the decompression chamber in the unfortunate event of a diving accident(decompression sickness or air embolism). Cost: 6 Euro


Hypermed members are Automatically members in Baromedical Decompression chambers in Marsa Alam and Hamata(deep south)

Is simply breathing 100% oxygen with a pressure greater than the atmospheric pressure

The Hyperbaric Session

The duration of the session is one to one and half hour. Minimum number of sessions to judge the clinical improvement is 10 sessions
Cost of 10 sessions? Number of patients in one session. HBO increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in the plasma from 0.32ml/100ml at sea level (1 ATA) to 5.6 ml/100ml at 18 meters(3 ATA). This 5.6 ml /100ml is the difference in oxygen content between artrerial and venous blood at sea level i.e the amount extracted by tissues !!! Meaning what? In Decompression illness decompression sickness and air embolism
Increasing the barometric pressure and good oxygentaion are life saving. Cellular Phenomena such as:

Improving the phagocytic Killing function of leucocytes that is impaired in hypoxic chronic infected wounds
Meaning what? Diabetic wounds
Refractory osteomyelitis

HBO when used in conjunction with thrombolytic therapy prevents reperfusion injury that results from adherence of leucocytes to the endothelium of small blood vessels blocking blood flow to an injured organ as in cases of acute myocardial infarction. Developing new endothelial bed ( new capillaries) through activation of fibrobalsts and their oxygen mediated reactive mediators explains the intake of grafted tissues and the healing of chronic wounds as decubitus ulcers.
