One step closer to understanding the origin of cancer: the hidden role of “mobile” DNA🧐
Cancer research has entered a new phase in which not only point mutations in genes are studied, but also more complex mechanisms that affect the overall functioning of the genome. In this context, a recent study led by Spanish researchers has opened up a promising way to better understand the origin of some tumours.
These scientists have discovered that certain mobile fragments of DNA – genetic elements capable of moving within the genome – can play a key role in the appearance and evolution of cancer.
