Alright, Spain… we need to talk about HUMIDITY.
Because this year? This year chose chaos. 🌧️💦
Rain, rain, more rain, and suddenly homes that were never meant to feel tropical are out here smelling like wet towels and existential crisis. Some parts of Spain are naturally humid (hi coast 👋), but even dry zones are struggling right now. And humidity isn’t just annoying — if you ignore it, it turns into mold, damage, health issues, and ruined closets. Not cute.
So let’s get practical, BeSS style.
First rule (and yes, it sounds wrong):
OPEN. THE. WINDOWS.
We know. It feels illegal. But when the rain gives you a break — especially midday — open everything. Fresh air + warmer outside temps = moisture OUT.
If you are obsessed with sealing the house like a bunker. Don’t do that. Air needs to MOVE.
Which brings us to the real key:
Air circulation is EVERYTHING.
Humidity’s best friend is still air. Fans on. Doors open. Let rooms talk to each other. That dark spare bedroom you never use? Yeah, that’s where mold goes to start a family.
Now let’s talk tools.
Dehumidifiers: the unsung heroes.
If your house feels clammy, smells “off,” or your walls are cold to the touch — get one. Use it in the dampest room first, keep doors closed while it runs, and empty the tank daily (you’ll be HORRIFIED by how much water comes out). Bonus: your laundry will dry faster and your sanity will return.
Your AC has a DRY mode. USE IT.
That little water-drop symbol? That’s not decoration. Dry mode removes moisture without freezing you to death. Perfect for humid days when it’s not actually hot. A few hours can change everything.
Closets. Oh closets. 😬
Humidity LOVES clothes.
– Leave space between garments
– Don’t stuff closets to the ceiling
– Use natural absorbers: bicarbonate, charcoal, silica gel, cedar
– If a closet smells weird… it’s already too late. Act fast.
Why all this matters (aka: the not-funny part):
Too much humidity can cause mold, worsen asthma and allergies, damage walls, furniture, books, and turn your house into a health hazard quietly and politely. Spain does quiet problems very well.
So yes, this year is humid. Yes, we’re all damp.
But with a little air, a little strategy, and fewer sealed-up caves, your home doesn’t have to suffer.
If you’re unsure whether what you’re seeing is “normal Spain” or “this needs fixing ASAP” — you know where to find us.

Finca Marques De Montemolar 🤍
Another beautiful wedding I had the honour of officiating here in Spain.
Although the day was cloudy and overcast high up in Altea, the views over the sea were simply breathtaking. It made the atmosphere feel even more magical.
This was a very special ceremony for me — a slightly nervous but utterly gorgeous couple, and the most unforgettable moment thanks to the page boy… only 5 years old and given the important task of bringing the rings.
Well… he marched up the aisle, threw the ring box at the front and ran straight back down again 😂
Absolutely hilarious and a moment none of us will ever forget.
The bride’s entrance down the stairs was stunning, the groom’s sister sang beautifully, and although I didn’t manage to capture photos of the dining setup, it was truly spectacular.

Another stunning wedding I had the pleasure of officiating here in Spain at ✨
An extremely hot summer’s day — the bride looked absolutely radiant 🤍 (the poor groom bravely rocking a tuxedo in the heat 😅).
A little reminder for couples planning to marry in Spain during July & August ☀️: it will be hot, so choosing the right timing, attire and venue really matters.
The flowers were breathtaking as always by the wonderful 🌸
And the sound was spot on thanks to DJ Lee, keeping everything flowing perfectly 🎶
I can highly recommend this beautiful venue — the team are incredibly supportive and really help you plan your day with ease 💫
