100th dive! Bump head parrot fish a first for me. I think they’re beautiful, what do you think? Vortex of Chevron barracuda, a very flamboyant cuttlefish and white tip reef sharks to name a few … sorry no video of sharks. Maybe tomorrow

What a day! I did my 100th dive at Sipadan, on Valentine’s Day 🥰with Jason & it was our first dive with sharks (white tip reef sharks)🦈 3 incredible dives today the first one with Bumphead Parrot fish (video to follow) and an endless list of other weird & wonderful fish and creatures including a vortex of chevron barracuda, a monstrously big moray eel called Elvis, and 2 octopus who were intending on mating (well it is Valentine’s Day)
We had coffee break on the island after our first dive. The storm came in then do we had a pretty rough boat ride to the second dive site but of course underwater it was fabulous. After lunch on the island we headed to the House Reef at Kapalai for our last dive.
9 dives in 3 days. Tomorrow is our last day of diving, we are going back to Sipadan where we will swim out ‘into the blue’ in search of hammerheads
Thanks to once again for a cracking day of diving

Another amazing day diving. The marine life and coral reefs are spectacular. 2 drift dives from the boat this morning and after our lunch another dive close to the island around the ship wrecks. is now a certified AOW diver 💪🏻🥰 My dive guide Terry was so attentive, thank you to - what a super team you are.
Fingers like wrinkled prunes from so much time in the sea
Tomorrow we dive at Sipadan island in the hope that we spot some sharks, especially hammerheads 🦈

What a fabulous first day diving with .
Lovely team and great guides. I’ve seen so much marine life in 3 dives it’s crazy. Feeling at ease again thanks to my lovely guide (wasn’t sure how I’d feel out on a dive boat with a crew I didn’t know after the ‘Egypt incident’).

Final day at Sukau Rain forest lodge. Rain storm stopped just in time for our ferry ride. 4.5 hour bumpy minibus ride to Semporna port(happy not staying here 😳) It’s very run down with so many stray dogs. The bus journey was Oil Palm plantations the whole way 😢.
Our ferry ride shortly will take us to Mabul island where we have 4 days of scuba diving. 4 dives will be at the dive Mecca of Sipadan island ☺️☺️

Yesterday we drove overland from Sandakan to Sepilok orang-utan 🦧 rehabilitation centre & sun bear sanctuary . They are doing such a wonderful job of taking care of the orangutan and their future.
The young ones were a joy to watch.
From there we had a 2 hour jungle river boat trip to Sakau Rainforest lodge. Sir David Attenborough stayed here in 2011 when making a documentary on Borneo. The diversity of fauna and wildlife is incredible. We’ve seen macaques, proboscis monkeys, wild orangutan, hornbills, egrets, snakes and much more. We did a night cruise last night, pre sunrise cruise this morning and a jungle walk ( when we saw the wild orangutan near our Villa). Every day brings a new adventure 🥰

We made it! Mount Kinabalu peak 4095.2m. Jeez it was flipping tough but soooo worth it to see the sunrise over the clouds.
A ‘take your breath away’ moment and a massive feeling of achievement. Absolutely relentless steep climb and we both suffered with some altitude sickness (dizzy, nauseous and unsteady on our feet).
With a nice steady pace and water breaks we still managed to overtake half of the other climbers with the help of our lovely guide from .junkie
Short rest at the base camp and then the descent back to the start gate…. that was almost tougher than going up 😆😆, my knees and hips are cursing me now
I think we deserve a celebratory drink 🍸

What an incredible day! Picked up in the mini bus at 6.30am. 2 hour drive through the most stunning scenery to Timpohon gate to meet our guide for our ascent up Mount Kinabalu. .junkie have been great, everything so well organised and friendly. It’s been a relentless ascent to the base camp, far tougher than I expected, but we’ve loved every minute thanks to our guide Si. It’s only 6.5km from the start gate to the base camp but we’ve climbed 1600m. Tomorrow we have breakfast at 2am and start our climb at 3am to reach the summit for sunrise 🌅. A good supper and rest are in order.
