Sciatica occurs when your sciatic nerve—which runs from your buttocks down to your feet—gets pinched. As you may imagine, this is extremely painful and can result in sudden and sharp pain, soreness, numbness and/or tingling. Some people may even have trouble walking or standing due to the pain. It’s estimated that as many as 40 percent of people will have sciatica at some point. Some unlucky patients will even experience flare-ups of sciatica over their lifetime.
Most cases of sciatica pain emanates from one of three areas:The lower back or lumbar region of the spine (L4/L5).The sacroiliac (SI) joint in the pelvis.The piriformis muscle in the buttock or other deep gluteal muscles. Remember, sciatica pain may include:Lower back pain, Burning or tingling down the leg. Weakness, numbness, or difficulty moving your leg or foot. Consistent pain on one or both side of the buttocks.

Bursae are small fluid-filled sacs, shown in blue. They lessen friction between moving parts in the body's joints. Knee bursitis is swelling, also called inflammation, of one or more of the bursae in the knee. Knee bursitis is a condition in which one or more small fluid-filled sacs near the knee joint become inflamed.

Treatment includes Physical Therapy, Rest, Anit Inflammatory Medication and Strengthening Exercises

Ways to prevent bursitis coming back:-

Maintain a healthy weight – being overweight puts more pressure on your joints

Warm up properly before exercising and playing sport

Use padding when putting a lot of pressure on joints (for example, when kneeling)

Take regular breaks if you do things that put pressure on a joint, like kneeling

Sciatica occurs when your sciatic nerve—which runs from your buttocks down to your feet—gets pinched. As you may imagine, this is extremely painful and can result in sudden and sharp pain, soreness, numbness and/or tingling. Some people may even have trouble walking or standing due to the pain. It’s estimated that as many as 40 percent of people will have sciatica at some point. Some unlucky patients will even experience flare-ups of sciatica over their lifetime.

ILIOTIBIAL BAND SYNDROME (ITBS)

ITBS occurs when excessive irritation causes pain at the outside (or lateral) part of the knee. The iliotibial band, often referred to as the "IT band," is a type of soft tissue that runs along the side of the thigh from the pelvis to the knee. As it approaches the knee, its shape thickens as it crosses a prominent area of the thigh bone (femur) called the lateral femoral condyle before attaching to the tibia. Near the pelvis, it attaches to two hip muscles, the tensor fascia latae and the gluteus maximus.

Irritation and inflammation arise from friction between the IT band and underlying structures when an individual moves through repetitive straightening and bending of the knee.

ITBS can occur in:

Individuals who spend long periods of time in a specific position, such as sitting or standing for long periods of the day, climbing or squatting, or kneeling.

Athletes performing repetitive activities, such as squatting, and endurance sports, such as running and cycling.

Individuals who quickly start a new exercise regimen without proper warm-up or preparation.

With ITBS you may experience:

Stabbing or stinging pain along the outside of the knee.

A feeling of the IT band “snapping” over the knee as it bends and straightens.

Swelling near the outside of your knee.

Occasional tightness and pain at the outside of the hip.

Continuous pain following activity, particularly with walking, climbing, or descending stairs, or moving from a sitting to standing position.

You can help prevent this Injury or Condition by maintaining core and lower-extremity strength and flexibility and monitoring your activity best prevents ITBS.

It is important to modify your activity and contact your physical therapist soon after first feeling pain. Research indicates that when soft tissues are irritated and the offending activity is continued, the body does not have time to repair the injured area. This often leads to persistent pain and altered movement strategies, and the condition becomes more difficult to resolve.

SERRATUS POSTERIOR SUPERIOR MUSCLE

Serratus posterior superior frequently causes pain near or under the shoulder blades, or in other regions throughout the upper body. Pain from the serratus posterior superior is often described as a constant "deep ache" under the upper portion of the scapula. Pain can extend around the shoulder and down arm to the under side of the forearm, hand and little finger, it can also sometimes manifest as numbness in the hand.
The pain often increases with movements that include lifting objects with outstretched hands, such as placing dishes or other objects on a shelf. Sleeping on the same side can also cause the scapula to press against the trigger points.

SERRATUS POSTERIOR INFERIOR - OVERLOOKED CAUSE OF LOWER BACK PAIN

Have you reached for something and suddenly felt a sharp spasm in the lower part of your back, slightly to the side of the spine, at the bottom of the ribs, and when you breathe in really deep you can feel it?

Based on the above description it is possible that you might be dealing with damage to the Serratus Posterior Inferior muscle.

The Serratus Posterior Inferior muscle connects the lower 4 ribs to four vertebrae (T11, T12, L1, L2) in the low back.

Your pain may increase when, twisting the body when lifting, overreaching overhead or to the side of the body, lifting something heavy using the back muscles instead of leg muscles and may extend across the back and over the lower ribs, even continuing through the chest to the front of the body.

If you are suffering from this pain a programme of manipulation and stretching can help to release the damage on the Serratus Posterior Inferior.
