About me:
“My background is in the colourful creative world of art and design. Having previously worked in fun industries like TV and film in the UK, and after studying and having over 10 years' worth of qualifications based in and around the design industry, one day I decided to change direction in my life...🔚
I first found my place on the yoga mat in 2004 and I have been on and off the mat ever since...
I started with hatha and dabbled in ashtanga. I wobbled about with pregnancy yoga and then re-discovered the world of ashtanga when I moved to Barcelona in 2011. .
At this time there was no structure in my life. I was living in a foreign country, was working in a job I hated, knew only 2 people in the entire city and couldn’t understand anything anyone was saying to me (oh and throw in the fact I had a 3 year old to look after 🤨... ). But when I went to practice yoga I loved the way it made me feel - just me, my mat and nothing else.
Ashtanga is about structure and routine, and it is a very ‘solo, personal practice'. Your mat is your mirror and a reflection of you - you get back what you put in. This came at a time when my life lacked structure and routine, so it was the perfect match.
I carry the Ashtanga philosophy through in my teaching, bringing awareness to the breath, the body, and alignment.
It would be lovely to share what I know and love, and I hope you too can find something on your yoga mat that is worth returning for.
Love Rae 💕🏡.
