WELCOME TO GEOFF'S COSTA BLANCA WALKS! http://www.costablancawalks.weebly.com Walks are from October to April. Often a car is needed to access the start.

Most are near Benidorm or Calpe, with a more northerly walk near Jalon or Gata once a month. There is a walk every Wednesday starting at 10.30 - these are usually the easier walks. On Saturdays we arrange longer walks with higher ascents so these tend to be moderate / hard. The aim of the walks is to enjoy the scenery and to make friends. The pace will be steady , with stops to admire the views, recover from climbs and examine features of interest. There will be a picnic lunch on the walk and a social drink at the end. The walks are of a moderate standard, divided into three grades:
^^ Easy Mod. 8km. 200m asc. 3hrs ( incl. stops)
^^^ Moderate 10 km 300m ascent 3.5 hrs ( incl. stops)
^^^^ Hard Mod. 12 km 400m ascent 4 hrs ( incl. stops )

There is no charge for the walks. If you want to show your appreciation then offer the leader a drink at the end. Many paths in Spain are rough and rocky , with steep sections with a loose surface requiring mountain boots with a thick sole , deep tread and ankle support. BOOTS MUST BE WORN FOR ALL WALKS! You will be required to sign in at the start to say that you walk at your own responsibility. YOU WALK AT YOUR OWN RISK. You need insurance. The Austrian Alpine Club UK for £36 a year covers rescue, medical and repatriation costs. I hope to see you on a walk soon, Geoff. WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 4TH XIRLES / Easy 6km 100m asc 2h30 Geoff

The classic popular walk on good paths, crossing the wooded ridge with Mountain View’s on both sides. Starts 10.30 from the car park in XIRLES.

We will meet in the carpark ( or thereabouts) which is on the LHS of the road just as you enter Xirles.

Xirles is on the CV-7620 which forks off the CV-7621 out of Polop.

SATURDAY 31ST JANUARY - Local Councils ( including Finestrat and Orcheta ) have suspended outdoor activities for Saturday due to the weather forecast and advised people not to undertake unnecessary activities and trips.

We dont want the responsibility of any " incident " occuring due to the weather that is forecast so we will postpone this walk to next week ( hopefully )

SATURDAY 31ST JANUARY - FONT MOLI , GUADALEST . MAP G-1 , APPROX 10 KM , 400 METRES ASCENT AND 3.5 HRS - HARD
This is a walk based on Map G-1 - note that on Geoffs maps the start is called Font Moli d'Ondara - on Google Maps it is called Font Moli Benimantell. Including the "there and back " diversion to the viewpoint over Partagas. Well graded track and fine mountain views , a snow well and Autumn colours.
Northwards towards Guadalest on the CV 70 , before Guadalest note a sign on the left for " El Trestellador Restaurante " and turn in here then right at the small T Junction , The Font is about 1 Km further down on the left. We will park in this general area. The turn off the CV 70 is about 2.5 Km before Guadalest.

WEDNESDAY 28th JANUARY - XIRLES - BRENDANS BUTTERFLY WALK - 9KM , 3 HRS , 250 METRES ASCENT -EASY /MODERATE.

WEDNESDAY 21st JANUARY - THIS IS ROUGHLY BASED ON MAP C-8 . 7.5 KMS WITH ASCENT OF ABOUT 275 METRES - 10:30

WE START AT THE SCHOOL CAR PARK IN CALPE - Avenida Felip V1 - UNDER THE N332 AND UP TO THE CAMPSITE ON THE OLTA FOR A PICNIC STOP
THEN A CONTOUR TRACK LEADING TO THE STATION THEN ACROSS THE N 332 AND BACK TO THE CAR PARK.

SATURDAY 17TH JANUARY - Rain is forecast so we have to postpone this walk.

SATURDAY 17TH JANUARY - MARNES - PINOS CIRCUIT , ^^^ Moderate , 9 Km , 350 metres ascent , approx 4 hrs. JALON MAP J4 .
A well known popular walk all on good paths - except for a short barranco section which is a little overgrown -
and offering fine views of the surrounding mountains and the coast.
From the N 332 ( just south of Benissa ) turn on to the CV 750 towards Jalon then almost immediately left again on to CV 749 ( Pinos ).
After 8 Km pass Restaurante Pinos on your right then 700 metres later cross a small bridge with blue railings and immediately after the bridge pull off the road.
Depending on numbers we will park here or further up the slip road. Meet at 10:30

WEDNESDAY 14TH JANUARY - Dos Ermitas , Based on Map B-7 , 10 Km , 200 metres ascent , approx 3 hrs.

We will start from the La Barraca Ceramica which is on the N-332 coming from Benissa towards Gata Gorgos.
It is the blue and yellow one that has a yard on the other side of the road. Turn down here by the yard( coming from Benissa side ) and park.

A gentle lowland walk below the Montgo. Bring coins for the 'what the padre saw machine'.

Rural circuit on paths and lanes with views of Montgo.

Hello all,
Now that the Christmas and New Year festivities have wound down - and maybe some walkers have returned to Spain after the holidays -
we will resume our walks with an Easy / Medium one on Saturday 10th January.

SATURDAY 10TH JANUARY - LLIBER - THE SECRET GORGE near Lliber. Easy/ Mod
Starting by walking the well known hidden valley under the red cliffs we continue and ascend the 'secret gorge' path. Then return via 'Metal Micky' and La Moneta. The walk offers fantastic views and the route is a mix of good tracks and paths of about 10 Km, 200m ascent, 3.30hrs. 10:30 AM start.

We start at the dirt carpark next to the Sports Centre on the edge of Jalon.The Sports Centre is on the roundabout before the Social Centre.
From the N-332 Benissa take the CV 745 to Jalon / Xalo. As you enter Jalon the road bends right at the petrol station.
A few hundred meters along is the roundabout with the Sports Centre car park immediately off the roundabout.
