WELCOME TO GEOFF'S COSTA BLANCA WALKS! http://www.costablancawalks.weebly.com Walks are from October to April. Often a car is needed to access the start.

Most are near Benidorm or Calpe, with a more northerly walk near Jalon or Gata once a month. There is a walk every Wednesday starting at 10.30 - these are usually the easier walks. On Saturdays we arrange longer walks with higher ascents so these tend to be moderate / hard. The aim of the walks is to enjoy the scenery and to make friends. The pace will be steady , with stops to admire the views, recover from climbs and examine features of interest. There will be a picnic lunch on the walk and a social drink at the end. The walks are of a moderate standard, divided into three grades:
^^ Easy Mod. 8km. 200m asc. 3hrs ( incl. stops)
^^^ Moderate 10 km 300m ascent 3.5 hrs ( incl. stops)
^^^^ Hard Mod. 12 km 400m ascent 4 hrs ( incl. stops )

There is no charge for the walks. If you want to show your appreciation then offer the leader a drink at the end. Many paths in Spain are rough and rocky , with steep sections with a loose surface requiring mountain boots with a thick sole , deep tread and ankle support. BOOTS MUST BE WORN FOR ALL WALKS! You will be required to sign in at the start to say that you walk at your own responsibility. YOU WALK AT YOUR OWN RISK. You need insurance. The Austrian Alpine Club UK for £36 a year covers rescue, medical and repatriation costs. I hope to see you on a walk soon, Geoff. SATURDAY 1ST NOVEMBER - DAY OF THE DEAD

On this sombre day we will start our walk from Calpe Railway Station at approx 10:30 AM

The walk is " Under the Oltas " so not the usual Olta Circuit. It is approx 10Kms with only 250 metres worth of ascent.

Classical views of Calpe , the Salt Lakes and the odd Mozarabic Trail.

When driving up from the N 332 cross over the railway line and use one of the turnings on the left to park.

Coming from Altea side take the Calp South ( Sud ) exit , up to the roundabout and back on yourself to drive under the N332 then left up the slope to the station.

WEDNESDAY OCT 29TH BERNIA FOREST TRAIL 6km + 100 m asc. 3 hrs GEOFF
A high level undulating promenade along a forest track with spectacular views down to the coast, leading to a lovely picnic area with chairs and tables.
Because parking is limited and access is only by a long steep mountain road we will meet in the lay-by at KM 19 between Altea La Vella and Callosa
We start walking at the picnic site, with its limited parking, which is reached by a long, steep, winding road, recently resurfaced.
But we will meet at the the bottom at 10.30 to share cars.
From the N332 drive through Altea la Vella , go past the Bernia signs, then just before the KM19 sign pull ( slowly ! ) into a large lay-by on the left.

SATURDAY 25TH OCTOBER - CALPE RAILWAY STATION

'Paraiso de Pajaros' walk from Calpe railway station - circa 12 kms but with only 275m of ascent should be doable.
It also allows for some stops for refreshments, tall tales and alround repartit.

A sea front / salt lake saunter comprising some of the best aspects of the area´s flora and fauna as well as a delve into Roman History.
Utterly joyful , compelling and yet profoundly educational.

Meet at the Calpe station by 10:30 - walk leader arriving by train at 10:15 approx.

If driving carry on over the railway lines - the two side streets on the left have space to park.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22ND NUCIA PARK 6km 100m asc 2.5 hrs GEOFF
A woodland walk with some panoramic views well away from the new developments in La Nucia.
Starts 10.30 from Nucia Park Restaurant. Take the CV 715 from Benidorm towards La Nucia. Go past the roundabout turning for Alfaz and follow the green signs.

Or from another approach : Take the CV - 70 from Benidorm towards La Nucia.
As soon as you pass the roundabout for Alfaz ( Rotunda 2 ) take the next right, following the green restaurant
signs for " Nucia Park Restaurante " The restaurant is a couple of minutes drive along Carrer Serra Montcabrer.

SATURDAY 18TH OCTOBER - Albir Governors Peak walk - moderate - at circa 450m of ascent and 8kms - circa 3 hrs.
Meet outside the portacabin loos in the main Albir car park (Sunday market venue) for a prompt 10.30am start.
Not as difficult as it might appear with wonderful views abounding at every stage.

WEDNESDAY OCT 15 TARBENA EXPLORER 6km 200m asc 3 hrs GEOFF

An alternative TARBENA walk with different views. A spectacular viewpoint for the Toncat Gorge is reached along an overgrown terrace.

Starts 10.30 from main car park in Tarbena.

Drive from Callosa, past Bolulla to Tarbena on the CV- 715. At the top, where the road bends right, instead turn left following the signs to the carpark.

WEDNESDAY OCT 8 SIERRA VERDE CALLOSA - APPROX 5 km 50m asc 2 hrs GEOFF

A very easy walk in the campo on paths and lanes with panoramic views.

The walk starts at 10.30am from the La Coope Bar in Callosa, which has a large car park and a terrace where we can have a drink afterwards.
From the N332 drive through Altea la Vella to Callosa, the bar is on the left as you enter town.

SATURDAY 24TH MAY - FONT MOLI GUADALEST TO FONT PARTAGAS - 10KM , 350 Metres ascent.
This is a walk based on Map G-1 - note that on Geoffs maps the start is called Font Moli d'Ondara - on Google Maps it is called Font Moli Benimantell.
A popular straightforward walk on well graded tracks , Penyo Mulero is the highpoint of a broad rounded ridge.

We will meet at the Font Moli at 10:30

Take the CV-70 heading north towards Guadalest ( sometimes called the new Guadalest Road ) , lookout for the KM 35 sign.
There on the left will be a turning and sign for Restaurant Trestellador.
Turn in here , then right at the small T - Junction , then stay left at a small fork in the road. The Moli and space for parking will come up on the left. ( ALEX 634352035 )

SATURDAY - 17TH MAY - GRAN FONTILLES - MURLA. 12 KMS , 350 Metres ascent , Moderate / Hard . Mostly based on Map P-15 .

Fontilles L***r Colony - ceased as a L***r hospital in the 1980's and now a recuperation and care home.

We start at the Council Swimming Pool Car Park in Murla .

As you enter Murla the road curves to the left - there is a sharp right hand onto the road to the Swimming Pool.

We will start off from the Car Park at the Pool at 10:30
