A little reflection from today’s pelvic health session…

Not everyone needs to strengthen their pelvic floor.

Today, through conversation and a simple movement assessment, it became clear that the body was actually holding a lot of tension.

So instead of adding more exercises, we shifted the focus to something different:
- learning how to relax
- reconnecting with the breath
- allowing the pelvic floor to respond, not grip

This is more common than you might think.

If you’ve been doing all the “right” things—like Kegels—but still feel tight, uncomfortable, or not quite right… your body might be asking for less effort, not more.

Sometimes the most powerful work is learning how to let go. 🤍

Hi, I’m Michelle O’Brien.

I’m a physiotherapist, yoga therapist, and movement educator with over 20 years of experience helping people move with less pain and more confidence.

My work blends physiotherapy, therapeutic yoga, breathwork, and functional movement to support healing in a way that is both science-based and deeply supportive of the whole person.

I have a special passion for women’s health, including:
• pelvic floor health
• pregnancy and postpartum recovery
• core strength and stability
• pain and movement rehabilitation

After many years of practice and teaching internationally, I’m now based in Carbonear, Newfoundland where I offer small group therapeutic movement classes, and workshops.

My goal is simple:
to help people restore strength, move without fear, and feel at home in their bodies again.

After many years away, we’ve officially made our way back home to Newfoundland 💙

The past few weeks have been full of big life moments — settling into our routine again, adjusting to the cold, and enjoying being close to family. My husband has finally arrived too, so our little family is all together again and it feels really good to be home.

As we get settled here in Carbonear, I’m getting ready to start offering yoga and therapeutic movement classes locally. After 20 years working as a physiotherapist and many years teaching yoga, it feels really special to share this work back home.

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be announcing special classes happening in March — including therapeutic movement, prenatal yoga, and pelvic floor health sessions.
